hello pirates. as if there aren't enough IM's to choose from, got this from the race organisers via the psof site. thought it might someone:
Hello,
My name is Gael MAINARD, Challenge Vichy’s race director.
This year, we are going to organize our first edition :
http://www.challengevichy.com/lang1/ Our goal is to internationalize our event... And we will be very proud to welcome your group. Pirates are very famous even in France after last year when we saw you in Ironman France.
Officially you’re not a club, but we want to offer you a special price as “club”, 270€ per person. Our price for 2012 will start at 320€.
We can also help you in several ways:
-find you a hotel very closed to the race , the Creps
http://www.challengevichy.com/lang1/accomodations_crepscis.html at the bottom of the page. It’s cheap but with very good facilities.
-reserve you tables at the pasta-party and awards ceremony.
We hope that you could be interested by our event, if you have questions , don’t hesitate to contact me.
See you
Gael MAINARD
Directeur de course

Didn't Henley say they would do the same [in a roundabout sort of way] for a large pirate presence.
Quite a good deal though!!!!
Well a whole bunch of us did Challenge Roth last year.... and we're "in the challenge family" *brainwash* ... it looks like a good deal.
Looking at the bike course...it looks pretty flat... flat is good French holidays anyone?
I likey.
That's 21 August this year, yes? So in about 11 weeks?
So the same people who made such a pils of ordering a set of tri suits this summer are going to be challenged to sort out a group trip to France in less than 3 months? Maybe next year?
I'd be interested if I wasn't retired
It's at the end of the Olympics next year so will still be working..........whose ideas was it to put the olympics in the middle of the tri season anyway???
Hmmm - a group rate for the Pirates? 2012? Well it worked out last year for Roth, I likey too, Pkim - if I'm not retired like FB by then!
Nothing - just enter.
It seems the Pirate Ship is in demand. Probably because we add that extra special touch to events, like having elite athletes signed up. Only in this case other people know they won't be last over the line cos we are bound to have some first timers who still can't swim, bike or mince properly.
If you are setting up an event and concerned in the current economic climate that you may not sell out then what can be better than getting 50 signed up in one go!
It would be around 13500Euros and we are fun.
It still doesn't outweight the Outlaw for me - I think a lot of them (ie non IM branded) will do group entry discount if asked. Even with the discount, it's still a dearer year and I need to cut my cloth to suit my purse next year.
I could be doing Challenge Mouse's back garden at this rate.
Is it a flat bike route?
Quite fancy it in 2013 as well Waff, possible could be the main Pirate outing for 2013?
I still like the idea of it.... looked at the course and it looks fast.... swim doesn't require much navigation as it's a out and back (good for my super non existing sighting skills), bike has a net downhill profile and the run is 4x10k loops ...
