I did this run just over a week after doing the Edinburgh Marathon and what a contrast (no not the distance). The same amount of runners but the organisation was seamless.
Edinburgh was a shambles at the end- family not allowed to see the finish and a long wait for medal/shirt/bags
London 10000 great rolling start, great finish, no queues (well not with my finishing time) and a great event
Also london managed to shut off roads in our capital city, edinburgh doesn't and sends you up the coast
What a lot they could learn, great great event...Thanks
It is a reward for long service (temporary parole)
It's actually six months but you can add holiday to it, which I've done. Got a deferred VLM place so I finish on 2nd March which means I can do my longest Sunday runs without having to drag myself into work the following day - or even do them during the week instead (bliss)
Oh yeah, quite a lot of photos up now. I look horribly in pain
And may I take this opportunity to congratulate Ms Tracie Davis (8967) on coming 5th in the woman's 45-49 category, very impressive... however don't take this the wrong way love but, I wouldn't, a bit too butch looking in your photos for my liking
LOL can't even remember seeing him! Were you in Blue A too?
Was a bit peeved that a club runner that I knew started off in Red A but finished in 1hr 20 - not quite sure what finishing time he put down to qualify for that pen!
No I was in Blue B. Blimey, he either came up with a fantasy finishing time or something went very wrong on the way round! I found that my pen was ideal for my pace / time and I didn't feel the need to be further up as I didn't encounter too much 'traffic'
Hey Trigger, nice pics, apart from the big guy diving in front of you,
guess he was desperate for his moment of fame !! but stole yours slightly.
My photos were very disapointing,
only got 4 pics, all at the end and one very crooked , poor photography, two look like i was about to die, but hey i cant blame the photographer for them, thought there would have been a few on the course, not just all the photographers all over you at the finish, still it was a good day , and i am looking forward to next year already ,
Marathonfoto aren't always good and what I hate is that you can't normally see too clearly the weird and wonderful grimace until after you've bought the photo!
Looking forward to next year too. It's a great race
Haven't done the Asics British 10K so can't help with that Bob. Nice route though out and back via Embankment, past St Pauls, Leadenhall Market and Lime Street. Not completely flat (couple of underpasses) but nothing too monstrous. Hope you enjoy it.
@ andyp - I did the British 10K last year and will be doing it again next month. I understand people's views on this (the more serious runners after a decent time) but at this moment it is fine for me in terms of running amongst others and getting races under my belt. That is why I have opted for next years bupa, as it is in time waves and perhaps I might be more interested in getting a decent time.
But I take on board what you are saying. Maybe, as the asics is my second year i'll have a moan after completion !

Should point out that I'm the one in the white vest, not the chap in the grey top!

Thanks Trigger2.
i'm in!!
This will be my third, after competing in 2009 and 2010.
Congrats! One ahead of you having done 2009, 10 and this year
Yep, I am in.
Haven't done this one before, is it a similar route to the Asics British 10 k ?
Trigger2 - shame you missed 2008 - you'd be an "ever-present"!
Bob - I did the British 10k - once and never again. This race is much better organised, and a very nice route too.
