Top of the list? Not the way I'm feeling right now. My legs are absolutely aching from my run last night - I'm figuring that there's no fuel left in my body so the muscle repair just ain't going on right now. NHS Direct told me Lucozade was a good bet - how did they know I have gallons of it round the house?
I do not think I will get too near 1.06 but will try and get a decent time considering I shall be rather hungover due to a boozy event the night before!
I would also like to thank mexican road sweeper for predicting me that time! Will be nearer 1.15 I think but we shall see what happens.
Wow, I would only be 10 minutes behind you then, ha, ha! Unfortunately I would do it in that sort of time but I am hindered by injuries, lack of fitness and a lack or running ability!!!

MexicanRoadSweeper - are you doing this run (I haven't seen you declare anywhere yet). Jonathon, are you staying on a target of 1:06 then? (you can pull me round if so)
I'm up for this, I haven't got my number yet as I only sent off my entry this week. Estimate of time: 1:20 (Major celebration show me the champagne). 1:25 This is what I'm aiming for. 1:30 (Could do better - managed this at the 10 mile point at Windsor).
My current PB is 1:18:43 set in 1984, which I have high hopes of beating; so put me down for 1:18:42! With a following wind I might even do 1:16 - it also helps that this is only my 3rd 10 miler in 18 years; the second one being a 1:20, 3 weeks ago.
Hi, I think that the mexicanroadsweeper would like to run however he is being forced to go to Amsterdam I believe on a stag weekend, obviously not as much fun as a day out in Twickenham!
Can you please amend my time to 1 hour 10 please as I do not think I will be quicker than 7 min miles. Thanks.
Could I have some advice from you guys?! - I did the Richmond Park Nike 10km thing the other week in 44:15 - what time should I aim for here?? If anyone has a sensible target could they add it to the list! Thanks
Hi David, that is a great time - I think if you ran at an even pace you were doing 7 minute miles. If you have not done a 10 mile before just slow your initial pace down a bit and then push on if you are still feeling good further into the race.
I think you could do a sub 1.20 - does that sound right? That would mean staying below 8 minute miles for the race.
Based on 44:12 10k, Bob Glover predicts a 10 mile time of 1:13:13. That doesn't take account of factors like specific training for given distances (i.e. if you've never run further than 10k, you're unlikely to do your first 10m in that time).
On the plus side, the Nike run was very hilly, whereas this will be flat. So that should buy you a minute or two.
Thanks Venom - and you're right I've not run more than 10km for over 10 years...! I only did 5 training runs for the Nike thing - but I think I'll aim low for 1:19 this time! Have a good w/end!
doh why are you cruel venom, putting the list in order of expected time! I was hoping no one would notice I would be aiming for the slowest time! Hopefully you faster guys will hang about and give me a cheer as I finish?!
Sorry Annajo - it was that Caz, she made me put it in time order! Don't worry - we'll all wait around until the race is over. Have you got a club vest to run in?
Looks like we're up to 20 runners now - pretty impressive. Anyone know how big the field will be?
On the Stragglers website it says that over 600 entries have been received and processed so could be towards 1000 if there are more late entranst like me (sent it in last night!), plus the on-the-day entries.
There are some great pubs round there for carbo-loading afterwards...!
Hi DS, yeah I just looked at the site as well and it said 600 entries received by 26th September. I'm sure they're well over that number by now.
Caz, I get the feeling there was supposed to be some lewd joke in that last posting of yours. Thankfully I didn't manage to work out what it was...
You'll be pleased to know that I'm feeling a lot better today. Possibly even well enough to try visiting a couple of Pitcher & Piano's tonight with Jon...
