It took ages for the weeds to grow back last year. I'm planning on swimming in the main part of the lake on Sunday (no water skiers at 7am - lazy lot) so wonder if that will be any better.
I missed Thorpe this evening. Had to pick my bike up from LBS which all took longer than I anticipated. I knew that trying to get anywhere on the M25 at 5.30pm was going to be pretty futile. But its good to have the bike back in working order.
Schmunks - I'm not sure about doing that when I can swim the 1500m loop for £5 or am I missing something?
The aspect of competition, that feeling is very different from a training swim,or practising mass starts maybe? I know I try a bit harder than I do on a normal swim even though I'm not racing anyone but myself
I hope to be there. Depends mostly on whether my cats sense somethings up and go into hiding when I get home from work to collect them to take them to the cattery.
Mr Soup has won the "my need for the car is more important" competition for the last few days. I like the mychett non-carvery but the lake is hard work and weedy. So I'll hopefully be back at Thorpe next Tues or Sat morning if I can drag myself out of bed.

I'm a maybe, feeling quite rough so may be working from home (Cardiff)
If I'm working from Farnborough, I'll definitely be there.

I'm definitely not coming to play, work has got in the way Don't they realise there are burgers and the pub to be had
Have a good swim.

But £5 is cheaper still.
And as long as there are bacon butties afterwards
Good cheeseburgers & tea. Might even be able to blag a second lap after?

A good swim, managed 8 laps in 90 minutes - very happy!
Extremely weedy though with the waves from the water skiers I ended up grounded on huge clumps of weed!
Shame about the traffic Cat5, would have been good to meet more pirates.
Soupy, what happened?
Uh oh Soupy!
Let me know when you're next planning on going. I think next week is out for me.How big is the course?

I might try next tuesday, fingers crossed I will have my car back by then too.
SHould be at Mytchett on Sunday morning too. One of my friends is doing Hawley tri and hasn't been OW for ages.
It is hard work due to the waves from the water skiers and the trek round the lake, but is perfect training for Wales which is a sea swim.
Cat5 they reckon it's between 450-500 metres for the loop
