Swam in the Tyne tonight. It was lovely and warm which surprised me. Felt good wearing the wetsuit for the first time. Not as easy swimming in peaty water than the swimming pool due to not being able to see more than 2 feet in the water and having to look up for sighting. Stay with a smaller slower group as I had swam last night and this was only meant to be a taster/easier session. Probably ended up doing about 1k or so. Really enjoyed it
Purple I only really want to try for one longer bike on Wednesday now and everything else is small and controlled easy really. Disappointed I haven't managed to fit that real long bike in but hey ho thats how it goes.
Been on my mind. Is water provided at the aid station or is it just the sports drinks and gels? If so is it bottled water or just a big container from the house?
Also when you get out of the lake and into transition where do you go to get changed? Is there a tent to use or do you goto your own tent and get changed before the bike leg?
Chilli water and energy ..in big containers.....so get your support to fill up a spate bottle with what you want so you can just swap them...otherwise just refill quickly yourself or someone there will help...
It might be a little diffetnt this year and we will know in the briefing.....last year the majority went back to their tents or lodges and changed before getting the bikes.....
I didn't change so I went straight to the bike transition and there were some small tents where I left my stuff and dried and got ready in there.....
There's no transition tent to change in but apparently once the races begin on Friday the house is open to all competitors so changing in there somewhere will be an option, otherwise back to the tents I guess, or get someone to hold a towel round you and go for the really dignified approach!
Did last big session this morning. 70 mile bike in 4hr 1 min. Ave 17.4mph. Tried to stay on the tri bars for most of it except through the villages and on a couple of climbs left my hands on the elbow pads. Hapy it is all done now and just a gentle tick over until the 10th June. Make sure I don't pick anything up and off we go!
Seren, does that mean I need to start packing tomorrow? Got to look back and see what Dave M said you will need.
Hope the weather stays like this. Bit cooler up here today and no breeze at all.
Enjoy the chill time before next week then. Got to sort a few things out with my bro so I don't end up with too full a car.I have the tent but trying to get him to source chairs and other stuff he can take
I haven't the foggiest what makes any of you tick so I have nothing to offer, other than I hope you all keep safe and well, and I hope all of you achieve.
I am in Burley enjoyying a pint of Double Drop at the Queen's head. They're obviously theming the beers for the race, I believe "Deca Doddle" is arriving in the next couple of days
