Is any slow runners doing this race?

Did it a couple of years ago and DNF due to getting lost. Now no know more of this part of the South Downs as have walked and cycled part of Jog Shop Jog route.

Now the snake very well now and can push mountain bike up the North Face.

  • Hi Tracey..slow start is good for this one..loads go off too fast and start flagging in Death Valley!

Dips - you are welcome to join me at the back image I cycled up the first off-road hill a Fe weeks ago and my legs were dead at the top.

Shoes? I'm familiar with the South Downs and it's been fairly dry so do I need to go with proper trail shoes for this one?
  • Only have road shoes, so may be on my hands and knees on the chalk bits.

Really not looking forward to this. Thou do want to finish it this time. Hope the sweepers are as lovely as last time.
  • Helly - unless it rains a lot between now and Sunday road shoes will be fine.

Tracey - Dips is right, start of slowly, walk the ups and just keep going.

Dips - go on do it you know you want to.

The forecast is for a warm but windy day; gusts to 37mph should make the run back along the cliff top path interesting.

Good luck and have fun - Raymond

p.s. I'll be starting at the back of field, sporting an orange and black OMM bum bag so please fel free to say hello.

  • Dips - you are welcome to join me at the back, but only of you can run that slow.

Cheers Tracey and Raymond ( I recognise your avatar so presumably we have been on the same race thread at some point.)

My feet generally prefer not wearing trail shoes so it's looking good. Anyone else coming down on the train from London?

  • Am in our caravan in Brighton image

So you just need to roll out of bedimage
  • Have to come back after and help hubby pack up the caravan image

  • Great race. Managed to run round without fairly conservatively but was still tough. A good confidence booster for Beachy Head. 13 days to go!
  • SR - well done.

I finished last, but did the whole course.

Big thank you to Jog Shop for waiting for me to finish.

Special thanks to Paul the First Aid/Sweeper image
  • That's brilliant Tracy. My first objective is always to finish the race. Did you do the "w"?
  • Yes I did the 'W' bloody steep like the Seven Sisters.
  • Shitzer I don't want to hear the last 6 miles are like that.

Aww, sounds like you enjoyed it.  After getting up at 5:15 my  train was cancelled, next one went AWOL, third was still missing in action when I gave up and went home.  Not happy!
  • Sorry to hear of your nightmare.

Thanks Tracey, I expected to return home knackered and hungry, just not that early image Oh well, roll on Beachy. Don't think I'm actually going to get near any hills before then but I can put in some pre-race eating.
  • Helly - at least you are not walking funny this morning. I will be getting my foam roller on my ITB in the next couple of day image

Who says I'm not walking funny this morning?image
  • Anybody know when we can expect to see some results?
  • I was going to ask that too - been checking website all week but nothing. Has anyone contacted them?
  • I was in the Jog Shop at lunchtime today and they told me the results would go up over the weekend.
  • As I was last I can wait for the weekend.
