I just need to work out how to get there for 7am now on public transport. I have moved though which is a sigh of relief, infact it will hopefully be much easier to get there from where I am now (Shepherds Bush) than where I was
I'm a bit annoyed actually as on the Human Race website they give directions for getting there by train from London, when actually it is impossible to get there before 8am!
GB, the first train to Box Hill & Westhumble from Victoria arrives at 6:58am - I don't know if the tube lines start early enough on a Saturday morning to get to Victoria though.
You could try on tritalk as Gladys suggests.
Otherwise I'm in the same boat as him, close to the course, sorry.
You're right FB, I would have done except we're full Friday night. At least I think we are - I'm never entirely sure who's coming & going these days. I will check with the room booking officer. He could camp in the garden though.
GB, you could get to Dorking Deepdene at 6:25, leaving Victoria at 5:32 and changing at Redhill. It's not a long ride from there, although it'll be dark obviously.
I was just about to suggest a Travelodge or B&B, they wont be pricey at this time of the year Also check and see if there is a YH in the area as they will be good value for the night
Weather looks reasonable for the weekend, so can get in a training ride to Boxhill and then spend time eating cake and hurling abuse at Gladys, sounds like a good Saturday morning to me
GB - Have you asked some of the local taxi companies what they'd charge to get you there? You may have to pay a bit extra for your bike/time of the morning but it's worth a shot.
Just had a quick look on Kabbee and got a quote for approx £40 in a taxi, that's pretty tempting. Have also posted on TT as well in hope that somebody is driving from my direction.
I don't really want to spend Friday night somewhere as my brother won't be arriving until about 11pm the night before I think, not ideal but oh well
Am actually rather sorry not to be joining you all this Saturday at silly o'clock in the morning when it's still dark. It wasn't going to work with my husband away and Goose needs to be at a cross country race. So I'll be doing the xc around Goodwood instead. TBH, I think, pain-wise, I'd prefer to do a bit of Ballbusting.
HAve a great race all. And don't do anything I wouldn't do .

Will anybody be there for a bit of a recce this weekend? I am thinking about an ealy Saturday ride
Not sure about this weekend, might try and sneak out but would need to get permission which might be tricky.
Also I'm looking at 30-35min laps on the bike, so you might be quicker if looking at closer to 3 hours?

Well that was silly of me.... entering a race I cannot get to!
I don't suppose anybody with space for one more is heading down from West London? Looks like I may have just wasted £65 here if I can't do it!
GB, how close can you get to Bracknell or Reading?
Cant really be of much help I don't think, as I live so close, sorry
Cat5 - unfortunately no closer, but thanks

Good shout FB except I have my little brother down for the weekend so need to be accomodating for him really
CD - The trainline suggests the earliest train gets in at 7:42, similiar to all of the other stations in the area
I'll ask over on TT, but am not a member yet so don't know if anybody would be willing to take some forum randomer
**thoughts of money + drain come to mind**
post it on TT and I'll post on your thread and vouch for you....no doubt a few other "dual nationality" forumites might do so as well....
hmmm that is tempting - thought that would mean leaving home at 4:30am. Don't know if I am that motivated for a 'C' race that I have not trained for
Cheers though will take a look

Riiiiight. Gladys is lending me his Pirate cycle top (I hope still). I'm going to pay this forward...
GB can you be ready for 0530 pickup? Is little GB coming?
Yep, still got the top for you. Will pm you my phone details later so we can find each other in the dawn at Box Hill!

Surely a jog in a park cant be harder than the mighty Ballbuster?!
Just reread some of my previous posts, then had to have a stern word with myself, the conversation went something along the lines of...
"Shaun what's the matter?"
"ooh It's cold and dark and wet and early etc etc"
"Shaun, MTFU!"
So I did!
I will be there, somehow. Does anybody have a spare pirate monaco/trisuit I could borrow if possible please?
Little boots will be there supporting I think, if I can convince him to get up early enough!
GB - that's an offer of a lift BTW...
?? What did I do in Roth???
