Ah ok... Well even if you cant get on to the downs the route is so well marked. I ran out of pockets to put tape in on Saturday! Getting lost in the first 50 miles I would say was close to impossible.
Has anyone seen the relentless series, I had about 30 mails today with various Ultras on, and up until today I hadn't heard of it, some look quite tempting, but I may give the "Hadrian's wall" Ultra a miss
Slightly delayed adding my comments (went straight off to the south coast afterwards for a couple of weeks of more rain!)
Well done everybody!! Had a fantastic day too, really loved it and over the moon with my time. My only gripe was lack of promised marshalls in the latter stages as running on your own as a girl on a Saturday night, and past pubs, could have been quite intimidating had a couple of other very kind runners not offered to buddy up!!!
Also eyeing up a 100 miler next and the SDW 100 is right at the top of my list at the moment. Just hope to get a place - looks like the TP100 sold out ever so quickly!
Sounds like you all had a blast!!!! I've signed-up for the challenger next year, and will be my first ultra. Sorry if its already been mentioned (in which case point me in the right direction) but what size/brand backpacks did you use and would you reccomend (challengers)?
For the one-dayer (or Leo Sayer, if you will) I went for a Inov8 15 litre backpack, with sports drink in the bladder, and carried a hand-held bottle for water and electrolytes. No blog, but plenty of bog.

Cheers! I have looked at that pack, looks good. I need to try the Salomon XT Advanced 5l but think it would be toooo small!
Now the dust has settled on the 2012 race how many will do it again in 2013?I really fancy it as a new challenge.Ive done plenty marathons and halfs but never gone beyond the 26 mile mark. I would do the 2 day version.
I have a few questions.
Same shoes for both days?Ideally I would have two "identical" pairs ensuring a dry pair for 2nd day?Or would it be better to have different model for 2nd day?
I guess the gear required would be very much weather dependant? Are there any compulsory must haves?
How was the camping experience?Could I sleep in a "mobile home"?
In terms of the cost I paid £30 for the Glasgow Half this year so its 4x the distance and 4x the price so not too bad considering the obvious logistics concerned.
I did this last year and have signed up again for the one day run, after seeing the camping area last year I was happy to run another 35 miles, but I'm banking on the freak weather we had not occuring twice. Some hope! You will need a spare pair of shoes after the first half, changing into a clean dry fresh pair was fantastic, mind you I think I also went through 6 pairs of socks
That's good news I've entered again but had an injury since I finished it in June, three months now! so unless I get back into the swing and up to marathon distance again soon I'll be deferring next year
Yes ekgo I'm giving it a go one day this time like you my feet still hurt from June but back up to 20 miles today Newport marathon next sunday which will be interesting.trying to build up for the born to run.then step up training for the wall run...
Blakester - I did the Loch Ness and Chester Marathons off my three month injury rest, with Rutland in the next fortnight, I'm also doing Born to Run Ultra again, it was greta last year see you there
Can't wait for Feb looking forward to it will book hotel up this week ..is only 100 doing it sounds great ..will be looking to do a 50miler in the middle of may for training for the wall is there any ultras then ?
I did the Dukeries 40 miles as prep last year. Was a great event and good prep. It's in May again this year. Otherwise check out the events page on here.

After June's washout I hope so, and did deferring allow you to transfer your entry fee from 2012 to 2013,

Hi all
I've created a new thread for the 2013 Wall run, search for "hadrian's wall 2013"
Head on over and say hello if you like - would be good to meet a few other folks doing it.
Cheers
Is anyone who did this in 2012 considering a second go at this? I spent three months injured after this but I signed up again
