Checked my webmail account, Slag. And checking long-range weather forecasts too. All looks a bit gentle for your liking though.... no raging tempest to battle through .
Schmunks, there'd be nothing to be ashamed of in doing IronKids. It's not all about going longer and slower, you know? Wiser people than me have challenged us all to celebrate shorter and faster.... and it's sure to be competitive! Sooooo..... where do you reckon you'd finish?
A better question to ask would be 'when do you reckon you'd finish' and I think the answer would be 'on Tuesday'
Thanks CL for your post. I am borderline hyper over this already and more than a week to go. I dont know what I will do to relax at this point. I am also checking the weather report and everything ... I should have taken the full month off ... I am so scared right now
and still nothing a bit frustrating when you think back to how well the communications were done last year ( or maybe thats rose coloured glasses ? ) Entry list was online months before race day .. Part of me wonders (given that even now its still open for entrys) if the numbers are a bit low and the IM team were hoping for a last minute rush ? .
Dont they realise that we are excited about this stuff god dammit !
Feeling slightly gloomy as I had started to allow Kona fantasies to creep in, but it seems the sharp end of my AG is faster than last year, when I needed it to be quite a bit slower. Better to have the disappointment now, though, and with the pressure off I can enjoy the day and concentrate on carving a repectable slice of last year's time - ready for an assault on a new AG next year?
I wouldn't rule it out just yet, joddly, but it's probably better if you start the race without the weight of expectation. Leave that to us - I still expect you to get a slot.
About 270 in my AG. To have a chance of a slot, I'll have to grab a draft and come out of the water with the Pros.... or something . At least I have a nice number
@Pingu. I dont have one. I am running with a custom T-Shirt with thank you acks to my support crew but it would have been nice to don the colours on The Red Hare (my bike). Been procrastinating too long to put a formal request to the dear Fairy and I will have to do with my usual bike kit.
Those are the starting numbers and there are always DNFs and DNSs so it does look like it may very well be that the race is a must do but people still approach it with caution?

There are 1492 race numbers but somehow 20 fell through the cracks. 249 in my category.
Numbers down on last year???
I almost signed up last month, but the price had gone up to nearly £400. That's a lotta dosh...
... still wish I was getting my number too though!
Hokori, are you running in a pirate top?
@Pingu. I dont have one. I am running with a custom T-Shirt with thank you acks to my support crew but it would have been nice to don the colours on The Red Hare (my bike). Been procrastinating too long to put a formal request to the dear Fairy and I will have to do with my usual bike kit.

Also the said T-Shirt sports "PSOF" as part of the list of power-ups
