It's that time of year again. Just a friendly note that the 2012 race is now open for business taking entries...

For info, it tends to sell out in around 6 or 7 weeks.

  • I'm OUT image

  • Bump! Over 400 entries in the first couple of days...
  • I'm in! Missed out last year so looking forward to this one!
  • Has it sold out yet ?
  • Almost 900 entries ? Whats the limit ?
  • Looking forward to this one after getting my entry in today, ive spoken to a few people who've done it but whats the consensus on the course - i know its undulating but pb material or not? I hear it finishes with a downhill but where mileage wise are the uphills?

  • I'm in image

From memory of last year its fairly flat for first half then a steady undulating climb over a few miles before the free-wheeling descent to the finish.

  • Up hill from mile 8 to 9, and then the long straight descent from 10 1/2 to 11 1/2

(But I won't be taking it seriously)

The Liver bint is in, So at least there will be plenty of noise

  • Always better to have the downhill at the end, i know that stretch it finishes on....should be quick ala lake vyrnwy and looking at last years results it normally has a strong field - but great you're contributing to the unambigious fun running total daveimage

  • Race limit's 2000, it'll sell out in a few weeks. In theory it's not a PB course, but lots of people have them on this course. First 7 really flat, get through mile 10 and you're away.
  • Yep That's me.. David Coleman defined fun runners after he saw me...

I love the descent on Towers Lane, I only live 2 miles  from the start, so often come down that lane on my bike after training rides (uncompetitive fun rides you understand) and it's great

BTW My history with this race is entered 4 times run it once.....

  • Chingoncito> It is a great half marathon but I would not describe it as a PB course. Saying that, you might find yourself in a fast group to pull you along right to the finish. There is normally a strong field there.
  • Just done the Liverpool Marathon (my first) and do fancy this as a good start to the year. Im still recovering so want to make sure i recover ok before i sign up. The numbers seem to be rising fast, from past experience would you say im safe to wait another week before registering?

     Thanks...

  • I've just done Chester marathon and was looking for something in between now and the Liverpool half in the middle of March. This sounds perfect.

  • Good event but not really a pb course. I will get my entry in.
  • Denis - agree finding a fast group is normally key to times - especially at this distance. There's a few local faces im hoping enter around the time zone im aiming at to give me something to chase at least....sub 75 might be a big ask on those hills, ah well train hard first and decide laterimage

Tim Spencer - i'd advise to enter now. Worst case scenario you can always transfer, there will be loads of people looking for places after its sold out.

  • Just entered, just the thing to stop me getting too much out of condition over the Xmas period.
  • Thanks Chingoncito, taken your advice and registered today... just need to master the stairs then i can think about running again!!
  • This one seems highly recommended so I've signed up.

Anyone recommend anymore around the north west?
  • Village Bakery half marathon in February and then you have the choice between Liverpool and Wilmslow in March

  • image Gutted i've missed the entry for this........done it for the past 2 years with both my parents (who haven't missed the deadline.....my mum's the oldest running!!!)

Love the course, pb'd at it last year by 5 mins off my previous PB image  Think i'm slightly mad right now as i've just done Snowdonia 3 days ago!!  (I think i like hilly courses!!!)

If anyone changes their mind, please please point them in my direction!

    I'll keep begging occasionally !!

  • If you cant get in come over to the fylde coast and be a part of the very first Inskip half Marathon on the 22nd jan there is a thread already going and it has all the race data from a garmin so you can see the potential it has for a good run.image
  • Hi everyone I have signed up for this half marathon but unfortunately I injured myself 2 days ago and am gutted I can't do it. Instead of letting my entry go to waste I was hoping anyone would be interested in buying it of me
  • Andy I'll take that place please. Let me know your details via PM I'll sort today!

    mark
  • My place is also avaliable due to unforseen circumstances.

Please drop me a PM if anyone would like to buy the place from me. I think we have until the 15th to sort a transfer.

  • muffin I have PM'd you. If anyone else has a place going that they can't use, let me know. My friend wants to do it. Thanks.
