great course love the course with all the hills went running in the snow today main roads clear here now in saddleworth hope to beat my time from last year if I can knock 11 mins of my PB on spen 20 race I think I will with this
Dewsbury 10k cancelled yesterday...the plan was to go running around my aparment in Bingley but the snow was terrible. So I decided to treat myself to a pizza hut and a trip to the Bradford Bulls instead.
Compo - What's this course like then? Managed to get a place!
Yes K & K, we saw that too - Undemanding - don't know who deamt that one up. They're obviously not from Up North -
Let me state once again the course is - HILLY -
After what happened at Dewsbury, please keep an eye on our website if it is looking dodgy. We will issue a mobile phone number you can ring to check the race status.
Never ran a hilly race before (unless you call Liverpool marathon hilly...). My best 1/2 marathon time is 1hr30, and I don't aim to beat that really....just come somewhere near it...possible...oir should I be aiming for a slower pace so I don't kill myself?
I run regularly - but don't do too much hill training as live in a pretty flat area. I sometimes do some fartlek type runs on treadmill using hills - but not sure if same really...

mate it's a good race but conpared to this Liverpool is flat.
I'm almost thinking about pulling out of this. Done bygger all running wise since December so this is going to hurt can you leave a pint at the finesh line for when i crawl in at about midnight.
A few 3 and 4 mile run's percy still had the tail end of man flu as an excuse but thinking if i sub 2.45 at the weekend will be good. Got fitness because of biking and swimming but with moving house, work and planning a wedding (well say that sarah has done most of it) I'm very short on long run's. Whats the worst that could happen.
This might sound stupid Chris but I tend to skip down hills you look a right prat but it works and you cover a lot of distance without to much energy. Plus you get to take the mick as your doing it.
also...were we supposed to receive an info pack either through post or via email (if applied online)? I went through runnersworld wesbite - received an acknowledgement from runners world, but that's it.
An update so you can all relax....emailed organiser and they have forwarded info to me. The original must have been marked as spam in my mail tool...or something....

Flat as a pancake!
BRING IT ON
and if my sister is looking on here
sorry but it is a little hilly
I was talking to a chap at the Meltham 10k regarding running down hill and he made a valid point which I haven't thought about before.
How do you run down a hill without loosing too much energy?
Some people say it's almost as hard to breathe as going up hill?
What kind of steps do you take when your going down hill....bigger than usual?
I let myself go a bit, do bigger strides and run faster downhill - and run slow uphill.
Looking at that link above though some of those hills are pretty long......
