For me no but thats mainly because my training has a been a bit carp and got longer races later on this year.
Westy your've got manc marathon in April havn't you? I would take it easy this week a little but treat sunday as just anouther long run in the build up to the marathon unless you want a quick time. Trust me mate you won't PB on this course.
You could try the Willow valley golf club for breakfast and also get a look at the climb that you will have at the 9 mile mark...reasonable food and a good choice.
I've also entered the Liversedge half for Sunday. I was on the waiting list but good news, I'm in. This will be my first half marathon (even though I've ran the distance in training) so I'm expecting it to be a challenge!
There was a really nice cafe in the village last year no idea what it's called but hopeing it's there again for some food. If your driving i think you going to have to walk past it from all the car parks before you pick up your number.
I know bit too far out for any accuracy - but forecast for sunday is quite cold, but not freezing, and dry - if this comes off will be perfect. Could be some snow there leading up to sunday though....
Food for Thought is the name of the cafe and is inbetween one of the car parks and race HQ, in the middle of the village. They do a really nice belly buster breakfast ............... just the job for a nice trot round the course.
Local weather forecast is for sleet/snow Thursday / Friday, turning to rain on Saturday, and dry on Sunday, but then again when have the weathermen ever been right.
Full of cold here. Have had sore throat since weekend, now gone all snotty. Hopefully will be feeling a little better by Sunday. Also got a nice big ulcer on my tongue. Lovely. I get them sometimes when I'm run down, and I guess cramming in some hard runs at the start of the week plus a lack of sleep due to said sore throat and a poorly child, has probably caused this.
So, all good! No more running till sunday for me I think.
Just a bit of a gripe here. We have had quite a few complaints over race details not being received. One of the solutions is to check your spam folder as mentioned above, but more importantly when entering on-line is to ensure that your email is a valid address and that you have spelt the email address correctly. We can only send out details based on the information that we have been given, and if that is wrong, then you won't receive anything.
Invariably on the ones that we have checked, the email address has been entered incorrectly, i.e. a dot out of place or a dash instead of an underline.
Please, Please when entering on-line, remember to check your spelling, it makes the Race Organisers job a lot easier, and will save yourself a lot of heartache in the long run.
I've emailed Peter just now I haven't recevied my race number or any race day information yet. I did take a place from an existing runner though so just a bit worried my stuff has been sent to the original runner.
Was supposed to go out running last night but I just could not be botherd, you get days like that though don't you? I'll be out tonight, possible 5 miler Saturday morning ready for Sunday.
What's this about a cafe
I was going to try something different for my race day breakfast...didn't think sausage and beans sandwich would be any good?
This is also my first half marathon Richard but don't take any notice of the 'go slow at the start' as you need to get in front of your time as you will lose at least a minute up the first climb - believe me I live on the hill and run it in training. You can tank it down into Baliif bridge and run a sub 4 min KM no probs if you want to get in front before the horrible climb back up to hartshed.

Ok - good advice. I'm feeling a bit carp at moment anyway, so a rest for a few days would probably do me good. Hopefully I'll be ok sunday.
You keep scaring me about these hills....

How hard is this run? I gather its pretty hill?
Richard,
Info is on it's way to you.
Richard it's very hilly for a road race but worth it. Just don't go hell for leather down the first hill because you've got to get up the other side.

Look what I found! (work a bit quiet at moment)
Food For Thought Menu
This is actually takeaway menu I think, but looks good.
9am opening time may be a bit late for me, but might be a good place to get something afterwards....
Looking forward to this race on Sunday... But I too havent received my race number yet????
I hope the roads are not too icy on Sunday, it looks like they are OK just some odd bits left at places.
the weather men have never been right
Elli - you should have received an email - check your spam folder.....failing that ES can sort you out.
