Hello - what are current conditions in Roberttown? Snow and ice. Snow free here in S Manchester. Forecast for sunday is pretty good, a little bit milder than recently, and dry.
I'm still fighting this cold - and am in two minds whether to run or not. I think I'm just going to have to decide sunday morning.
Snow free here in Roberttown at the moment. A bit icy underfoot on the pavements.
We have some club members running the course tomorrow morning to assess the route conditions, but with a reasonably favourable forecast, we don't see any problems.
I will post on here and our website if there are any dramatic changes.
I’m not carb loading but not taking the race that seriously with my training level’s at the moment.
On the weather front just a thought but last year for the race I spotted a few of the marshal’s had gone to a lot of effort to make safe some of the icy bits later on in the course or make sure we avoided them where it wasn’t practical. So make sure you give them all a big hug or a thank you if you can going round they always go to a lot of effort for us and it’s going to be cold for them standing around while we are running or in my case crawling past.
It's mine and the girlfriend's 2 year anniversary today...Taking her out tomorrow evening to the Rugby and a nice meal. Possible steak & chips....perfect preparation for a half marathon if you ask me
I too have not received an email re race no etc. All I have had is the confirmation of my entry/payment etc back in December. ES - my name is Amanda Sterling - would you be able to check this for me, or do I need to email somebody else? I've only just had a look at this thread. Cheers.
Nice one Compo1 if you do a 1hr 40 on Sunday great effort! my prep has finished well - haven't put my trainers on since last Wednesday when I run most of the course so have plenty of fat reserves.... Halifax road looks far easier when I drive up to Golf club. LOL
Everybody set? My preparation not great in that I still have a cold...but I'll just splutter round somehow tomorrow...I'll let someone else take the winner's medal this time.
Weather seems perfect for tomorrow! Can't wait now! Does anyone know if we can leave our change of clothes somewhere, are there lockers etc provided in the race HQ?
Really looking forward to tomorrow. My first half in prep for the marathon so it's going to be very challenging. Don't know the area but it certainly sounds on the hilly side!. Must be going a bit mad having signed up for the baildon half way, Leeds and Sheffield half marathons too!
Just got home. Good, friendly, and HILLY race. Enjoyed it actually - didn't get a PB but wasn't far away so was pleased with that. The hills were tough...and my right foot was really hurting for a while after the race I think due to the downhill sections. All ok now though, and feeling good. Think my cold has gone too!
Enjoyed the cake in the community centre after the race, so did my daughter.
Full on respect to all the Altrincham AC runners. You can't get much flatter than Alty, and there can't be many road races hillier than Liversedge. All 4 in the top ten, including the winner. Being from Alty (and an Alty FC fan) it's not often I can celebrate "local" sporting success.
I just want to offer thanks to the race organisers for today. It was a great event run by what is obviously a very friendly club with lots of marshals and helpers. I was saddened to overhear that there had been a problem with some runners disposing of their water bottles inappropriately. That's a shame and I hope that those few don't spoil future events for other runners. I had a great race. Thanks again.
