Midnight Man Iron Distance Triathlon

The guys who run the Bridge Tri in Dartford have come up with an interesting IM distance event in 2012 - an overnight event starting at 6pm and finishing at 11am.

Midnight Man

all for £160 and post-Olympics

I'd be tempted by this formula at that price

and no - it won't be no 6. I've retired. image

  • Yeah yeah ....  whatever   image
  • It appeals to me, so I've registered my interest.

    Short retirement?
  • no - long retirement thanks...
  • That's the one I mentioned before, closed roads - good, night biking- good, divorce on the cards - err, not so good
  • Would have been interested if it wasn't just lots of laps.  18 laps on the bike makes me feel dizzy image
  • The more I read it bizarrly the more it appeals to me though and I have no idea why??!  It may be because this morning I just happened to be trying to find ultra/running races that go through the night.  Anyone know of any??

  • Have a search for Kent 24hour challenge. Usually starts around 6PM I believe and you can run as many laps as you can manage in 24hours.
  • OOoh sounds perfect thanks image
  • FB - there is also a night time one starting I believe near you, cycling the southdowns way at night and a marathon ending in salisbury.  A friend from the gym is doing it.  I would expect him to be at the pointy end as he races pro anyway
  • that's X-man dooze - know all about that one as the swim's in GWR. I'd have been tempted by that 10+ years ago but it's too big an ask for me now with that ride and run, and you'd need to be at peak fitness for it and I CBA to train that much. you also need to be self-supportive as there are no aid stations - that will catch a few people out I reckon.

I quite like the format of Midnight Man but am not entering - I'm retired don't you know... image

    Me too

  • What do you reckon GB .. on for the triple ?? ... Have registerred an interest image rude not to when its practically on the doorstep .
  • image haha, you're all mad ... but it is strangely tempting!  Slag, you're double, mad, that's just before IMW!
  • I'm confused. I've never met FB, but if he really is retired, as he says he is, why's he 'researching' events like this still? image image
Not far from me either. If I do my first long distance at the Outlaw, is this too soon after? Will I want to do another?

image i know... but it is very tempting ... 4 weeks to recover for Wales .... hmmm

(edited so it makes sense )

  • " why's he 'researching' events like this still?"

I'm not "researching" - it was highlighted in the BTF SE e-newsletter this morning so I thought I'd pop it up in case others are interested.

anyhoo - that's my excuse... image

  • i love this sort of stuff - once i got outlaw over with i want to do all the "odd" races - obstacle course thingys, thunderun, night running, fell, ultra and  maybe even a double - but i never even said that, if the missus ever learns to navigate here

  • oops, registered my interest! Cheers FB image
  • Oh feck another temptation or shall I retire too?image
  • So the pressures on now...they have emailed to confirm the event is a go image .. and registration opens on Sunday for those the pre-registerred... slap bang between Outlaw and IMW hmm... could well and truly be pushing my luck... even at my pace image
