    Yup, by 7:50! image
  • He wont have left by then Schmunks ... for a start he wont be on time image

Would be nice to have some company tho, if I had thought I was going round on my own I could have done that on my own doorstep ....... and yes, I know it is on my doorstep   image
  • Probably starting about 8:30.
  • Thanks for the kind words of support. As I said im just going to go for it. It will be good experience and great prep for the Outlaw. good luck all, hope you all have enjoyable and succesful rides.
  • ajford ..   keep a look out for the kit, you cant miss it !!

What sort of time would you be aiming for ??
  • usually average somewhere between 15 and 17.5mph (always on my own) However Sunday will be new territory in terms of time in the saddle in one go. Just going to take it steady and hopefully finish it in one piece. When I see the kit I will say hello - havent quite decided on my attire yet!
  • Ok ... I am the one with thevery long plait, happy to keep you company if you like?  Would be hoping to average between 15 and 16 so could see how it goes
I dont think you will lose too much speed by upping the distance if your fitness levels are good enough

And the pointy hat, so I'm told...image

  • Hmmm
I am looking for a 120 miler at the weekend so this might do... 112 + 6 into London for the train + 6 home again image
Prob 8:30 start by the time I get there......
  • I will be looking to leave in one of the first waves so happy for any company at any point along the way. Dont want to have to commit to doing the whole thing with anyone just incase I struggle or something goes wrong. Dont want anyone to have to feel they have to wait etc. First wave at 7.45 and barring any problems will be looking to go then. Shall I look out for the yellow kit and introduce myself?
  • Weather forecast looks brighter for the weekend and a little more consistent. Changing hourly here at the moment.
  • Yep!  Long plait, pointy hat and pirate kit ... that'll be me !

I will look to arrive about 7.30 and then set off as and when I think?  Depending on car parking and logistics
  • Forecast for the morro ... dry and warmer with a frosty start  image
  • ajford, was good to see you yesterday.  Hope you had a good ride.

    or maybe not image
  • Yea good to meet some friendly faces. I read Meldys report and it seems you had a bit of a mixed day...but glad you got a good session out of it.

I finished the course but for some reason my computer only thinks I covered 104 miles and judging by my time I thinks it right. Spoke to a couple of people who finished near me and they said similar. Followed all the signs so a bit strange being 8miles short.

Overall quite a good ride and hopefully bodes well for outlaw. I think the main lesson I have learnt by doing a couple of sportives is the importance of nutrition. The course on a whole was varied, a couple of steep climbs, some fast flats (the one point where we were on freshly laid smooth Tarmac was amazing) and some pretty scary descents. Did not like either 20% descents or some pretty fast single track lanes.

Thanks for the support before the event and I hope all who took part enjoyed. Just over 10weeks of training to go...
  • It wouldnt be unheard of for IM courses to come up short either so I wouldnt worry .. 104 was prob right and thats a good distance

Yes, we had a mixed day 2 sessions interspersed with some HTFU  image
  • Just wondering if someone has an entry for the Wiggle ups and Downs they cant use or a friends that isn't doing it. If so please mail me on here or some have my phone and can text me.

Just got a late entry for the Flat out In The Fens tomorrow - 112 miler - probably be in blue and white Derby Mercury top.

  • I'll be pirated up in the fens as well pops.....

Well and truly knackered - 112 miles and did the whole thing into the wind - not a single group - my fault for starting late so the only people I saw I was overtaking.   Those last 30 miles or so were soooo hard into that wind.

How did the rest of you go ?  Looked out for Pirate kit but didn't see any I don't think - unless the skull and crossbones is only on the front.   I really enjoyed it - got caught up with some others going the wrong way because one of the locals  had turned a sign round - probably cost me 15 minutes - so not too bad - not the fault of the organisers though I have to say it was a lot better than when I did one of their events 4 years or so ago.

  • I can imagine that course is a bitch with a continual headwind!  Well done guys

  • Yup was a windy day pops.....

I was towing someone around..... had to go easyish but still did 6.05 ride time, elapsed time was about 6.30..... last year elapsed time was about 5.59......

Last third seemed a continual head wind

Bumped into Mr and mrs SA at about the 110k mark, and had a chat for 10k.. they looked in good form then.

I had about 5.45 ride time on my Garmin - think total time must have been over 6 because we were faffing about not knowing which way to go - even phoned the organiser's emergency number but it's hard to describe where you are other than some flat road in the middle of nowhere.   The detour aside I really enjoyed the first 75 miles - and the last 40 were fun when they were over.

  • We stopped at the point you went wrong Pops, as one sign pointed left and the other right, someone had a garmin download of the course and just as we left a group turned up who had gone the wrong way.

The 10 miles along the never ending straight road into the headwind was erm interesting.

done this event the last 3 years, don't think there will be a 4th time.

Time was slower than last, but last year was no wind but a lot hotter
