Just signed up after a nightmare run in Milton Keynes in the most atrocious conditions (would have been a PB if they hadn't rerouted and had fewer puddles). So sorry for the Shakespeare guys - after all that training and getting psyched only to end up doing a half. See you in Halstead!
Think I am going to be one of the influx of London runners!
I was quite happy with my time on the day of VLM but had absolutely no aches or pains afterwards and am wondering if I pushed myself to my max.
I ran Halstead last year and remember a beautiful course with noisy supporters! Am planning on entering on the day - anyone done that before? I am an early freak anyway so can be there as soon as the desk opens....
entered last night online - seemed to go through ok? thanks for the tip - strange that they still state everywhere that you can enter on the day though?
weather wise, just want it cooler than last year!!
Gladrag - check that you are on the entry list when they update in on Sunday. I had a problem a when I entered their was a computer glitch and they didn't have me as entered. Thou the race director sorted it out after I sent him a copy of my email confirmation.
This is marathon is lovely. Thou I don't do heat that well
I've marshalled this race three times - the first one it poured with rain, monsoon style; the second was very hot and sunny, and the third was freezing cold.
Just signed up, the limit online says 900, so maybe they've increased the capacity? I'm another VLM runner, not happy with my performance that day largely due to the congestion - so I'm looking forward to being able to run with a bit of space around me! Everything I've read up about this one is positive so fingers crossed.
Only if you run a 3 hour marathon, then you can get a shower at the leisure centre.
I'm going for a little warm-up run before the marathon if anyone is interested in joining me. Meet at the start at 5:20am for a little light jogging before the race.
We have record numbers entered this year. 825 registered before the day. Our entries on the day usually equal the number of people who don't turn up so there are going to be alot of people there at the start.
So if you want to leave your drinks at the start for us to deliver to you on the course you'd better get there early.

It says on the website limit of 750, and on the entrants list it has 710 as of last weekend, so you may not want to wait till the day possibly?

Says the closing date is 5th May on there?
Weather forecast looks interesting

Better than the usual Halstead heat wave!
The chances of weather predicted 10 days ahead being accurate is about the same as a Brit winning the Olympic marathon.
'sides, it's always overcast in Essex.
Sorry. My mistake.
What I meant to say was, the cast is always over the top in The Only Way is Essex, but it came out wrong.
I hope it isn't a scorcher however. Overcast will be fine by me.

Who knows?
Well it's extremely soggy and there are lots of flooded roads in Essex at the moment. Hopefully there won't be a repeat of this:

Hi Guys. Is there going to be any entry-on-the-day places available for this event or is it full already?
Ta,
Dave
I probably should have checked in with you guys before now but better late than never I guess.
Everyone OK for the race? Training gone well?
Any issues then let me know and I'll try and help.

What weather has been organised?
I've requested sunny but not too warm. Is that ok?
What, no light shower at 1.00?

does anyone use mp3 players ..says not allowed but other meets seem to be more flexible?
I'm afraid there is no flexibility. MP3 players are banned.
This is for safety reasons by the way and not just some silly rule we've dreamt up.
Flynn, good to hear from you!
What are you running in this year? Sandals, bare feet?
Inov-8 Road-X Lite 155's this year.
I'm running it twice though.
Kevin - just sing to yourself.
TG: Thanks. Should be easier than last year doing the same in sandals.
I'm a pretty good singer. I could manage a bit of Toms Jones or Frank Sinatra if music is required ...
