Yes it's fine will be a great little warm up Tracey G. They were starting to set up so king of got my bearings which is always a good thing. Roll on tomorrow morning now and the finishing line! Xx
I seem to be jinxed for this one, this year have a couple of dented ribs from a freak accident at half term camp on Thursday. Compression and Deep Heat will be in service. Everything was going quite well too!
Yikes! Am in my flat almost over looking the start. The sun is bright and the sky is clear. I have had a baby staying over night and was woken up a few times although I didn't have to get up so not too bad. I feel a bit sick and am sure my legs and feet are already aching! Gonna get to the start at half past, ready for the warm up and don't plan to wear any extra layers. I haven't run 13.1 miles yet, just 11.5. I have £650 of sponsorship which is my motivation to do it, but I really hope I love it too, as I'd like this to be my distance! Good luck everyone and see you when we're tireder! Emma xx
Interesting, went on here for this exact reason. The girl I chatted to after the finish said it was dead on the mile mark until mile 4 which recorded 4.35. It then went up in increments of 1 mile exactly according to her.
I time myself the old fashioned way and I was 20 seconds under 8 min/mile average after 3 miles but 2 mins/mile over for '6 miles'.
I feel cheated as I busted my guts out to complete today having been ill all week. Still, my official time of 1 44 03 is still a PB in any case.
Gutted... also came on here to see what others were saying. Yep, I measured 13.55 and ran pb pace of 6:41 which would have been 1:27:44 have to settle with 1:30:27 or something!!!!
the u-turn at Roedean was wrong last year, the cone was about 30 yards short of where someone has sprayed turn on the road, maybe the naughty cone was naughtier this year
Very frustrating I was hoping for under 1 40 minutes and annoyed that I did 1 43 06 because of the extra 0.4 or so miles. Really there should be no excuse fpr such inaccuracies.
Would be intersted to see what the orgainsers have to say.
Not alot by looks of things. Results are up... : ( boo hoo.... I think lots of people would have PB'd today. My time was not an unusual time for me but I've been training hard and knew I'd run my best today...
Yeah was really dissapointed with it all. Was pushing for a sub 1.24 the whole way and really went for it the last 2.5 miles to get there. I think I would have come in around 1.23.30 but then the extra 0.4 miles dropped me back to 1.25.45 which is really annoying. Ive never done a half marathon before where the distance was inaccuarate. It really stinks for people who were going for a specific time. Id be really interested to hear what the organisers have to say about it. Still a PB though but not impressed.
I'm with you Snacktapus! I worked so bloody hard today and have wanted to run under 1:28 for about three years.... In the Garmin era it cannot be wrong!

seems it was 13.5 miles according to most garmins
oh dear
last year it was too short
the year before runners were held up before the finishing line and threw their shoes over the line to record a time
can't be that difficult to measure 13.1 miles can it?
My garmin mile splits were all pretty much spot on until
I think it was mile 6 and that seemed to be almost a quarter of a mile out!

Were there split times this year? There wasn't last year but I seem to remember reading somewhere about it for this year.
There were 2 places there could have been something, one was shortly before the pier - perhaps this was the real 13.1?
I bet the guys who almost broke 1hr 10 are delighted!

Dissapointing - my Garmin clocked me at 1:28:29 for 13.1 miles.
Shame my chip time was 1:31:41 for the 13.52m course.
The one single most important thing that the organisers really need to get right is the distance...
I have emailed the organisers. Perhaps if more people do the same it increases the chances of hearing from them?
