How he's even managed to maintain that dignified ridgeback stare while wearing the helmet. Kudos to max..
And yey for dogs as training partners. Used to run 15K with my old boy, on a 3 lap route. Taught me pretty fast that people who think dogs can't count are wrong. If I ever tried to sneak home after lap two he was onto it straightaway and would deploy the Sad Eyes. It was easier to run the extra 5K than live with Sad Eyes induced guilt..
well I have a ironwife in (pirate) training.... She is at the back of the back of the pack.....
So that means we can swim together, (but shes done by the time I get to the pool......and we swim in different lanes anyway.
When we run together, then its really a ShuffleB run - I need to go off afterwards, so 80% of my running is on my own, to/from work
Ditto biking, when we ride together my HR is about 100-110, whilst she is up at 140-150. ie I get nothing out of it, so any shared biking / running is moral support for her rather than training for me. Means that fitting time in for my stuff gets tough, (as all the usual house / life / work stuff still needs doing)
However, I am, really really lucky as having an ironwife (in training) means I get very little grief for disappearing for 6 hrs on a Sunday.
Still have not done a turbo this year, (yet)
Downside is that she has more bikes than I do, + she is a kit tart, so I cannot afford some flash wheels, or a even a powertap.
Impressive running you have planned. I was due to start Fink this week but haven't trained as I am not well - I would struggle to bike 19 miles in 3 hours never mind run it
When we do training rides, we have decided to do the first 10-15 bike miles together, then he will go off and do his route and I will do mine. This way, he does not go off too fast and I have company until I am 'into it' and I don't feel guilty about holding him back
I would make an excellent ironwife (if I do say so myself). However, as OC and Schmunks said, pacing is an issue. What if I want to go long and slow and you fancy hard and fast?
Loula - I thought you already had a husband? Are you collecting them?

Surely the Ironwife shouldn't want to train / compete but should be
a) a expert bike mechanic b) Swim technique coach c) Nutritionist d) bag carrier, bottle fetcher, opener e) Masseuse f) Rich and able to buy all the kit g) have no desire to ever be taken out h) Be happy to go to bed at 2030 I ) be up at 0430 preparing coffee / breakfast before the IM awakens at 0500 j) able to shout AAAAARGH all day long on race day k) delighted to have a long weekend in Nottingham or Bolton
I go missin for 5 mins and the content drops into the inuendo gutter !! Right ......I'm off to do some pounding .....long and slow for as long as I can keep it up

Schmunkee.I do that with the running as I find it hard to motivate myself to go out but I'm fine when I'm out.went out this morning in the dark and we split at 2 miles
i'm very lucky, although everything i buy incurs a 100% WAT (wide added tax) rate as i have to buy her one too...trek madone being a case in point....Mrs B does triathlon...and she is having a crack at IMUK this year...i dont go running with her though cause she's a better runner than i am!! its great though sharing the same hobby...we go out a riding together...ow swimming...its great! though i'll not be happy when she beats my time at IMUK

Sounds the perfect set up OC - nice one. I need one of them there IronBirds!
I suppose it is better to disappear for six hours on a Sunday morning rather than at 9pm Sat night!
woodys???? explain
i often disappear for 3 hours on a sunday morning as i wil be tomorrow for about 19miles... so i am perfectly used to that malarky....i like kit too
Woodys is a pub loulabell!
3 hours - 19 miles - is that swimming then?!
oh a pub...gotcha...
