Boxhill carpark is a bit gravely so not exactly smooth! I think there's also a couple of mini road humps just ourside the carpark (you know the bit, where the road splits around a silly little island thing).
I think the route is anti-clockwise so down the zig-zag at Box and then up Pebble hill on the way back. I'm not mad keen on the suggested A25 on the way back, but we could head South from the bottom of Whitedown and stick a loop around Leith Hill- then come in on Coldharbour lane to the back of Dorking...
We would need to be back in good time for anyone who might want to enter on the day...
Don't mind the physical exertion of nutters hill followed by nutters hill or whatever but I am a bit wary of grip issues in January. Nobody wants to bin the wheels going down Whitedown. I would take the A25 in preference personally.
Old farts like me don't heal so quick these days when binned.
Don't know about Pebble Hill but Smiffy never mentioned it so it must be Pussy?
But in principle, I like the idea. EOD for the run is OK?
It builds slowly enough but keeps building and the last 100m or so is bottom gear, standing, just about not falling over. It the steepness rather than anything else. But still pussy for Smithy, obviously!
Yes there is EOD for Tadworth Ten, registration is about 300m from start so need to allow for that as well. really need to finish ride about 12.30pm at Epsom Downs latest if you want to do both I would have thought? But as I say, I think if the weather is OK I'd rather do a longer ride and bin the run.
Good point about grip though Dustboy, can you imagine losing it coming down Whitedown or similar?!
Pebble hill is signed as 16%, I've not ridden it as yet, but the last climb up to the junction for Box Hill looks fairly brutal. As Gladys points out the zig zag is the easier alternative.
Tadworth is still open for online entries, the RW events page says it was full last year, but their website says "Entries on the day will be accepted from 11.00am up to 12.30pm at the Race HQ subject to the race limit not being exceeded.".
Hmm, sounds more Barhatch than Whitedown then. I think I might have actually heard Ferret utter an unpleasant thought at the top after a crack at Barhatch.
So for a Christmas treat I had a go at Pebble hill, overcooked the start of the climb and was blowing out of all available orifices by the time I got to the top.
I think I'll stick with just Tadworth 10 on the 2nd.

Really fancy a Pirate ride but have done the Tadworth 10 for the last 3 years and have been steadily improving...
Decisions decisions....
Hmm, not sure if I will be back by then.
Have you got a route in mind Barlos?
((Debates brick possibility and logistics))

If my Pirate cycling jersey arrives by then (or Barley can bring it along?!) then I think I'm in, especially as Meldy is sadly otherwise engaged!
Drifting towards a longer non-brick run to be honest, but shall see how the flow on here goes...

Awaits wiser counsel....

I'm still mostly in the undecided club.

Undecided club too.
Might be interested.
We could play on MTBs instead if the grip looks dodgy. I just got some MTB maps of the Surrey hills....

It is still a road thing with an offer to get dirty with Ditchy if you want

I have a pink chit for Monday
Thank feck. I thought it might drop off.
Who else is still up for this ride?
Planning on running Tadworth in afternoon. But OK for a ride in the morning if there a few out.
