Whilst conducting a purely scientific experiment I appear to have discovered that you can vote again if using a different browser
Bookie, now don't take this the wrong way ... but I'm rather sceptical that the above could be true .. so much so that I believe I may have to spend some time proving it to myself , and in the quest for valid data to back up this claim I would suggest that others may wish to run their own experiments.
Excellent point Bruce No experiment is complete without rigorous checks of the findings. I therefore implore everyone - in the name of science - to check the results and report back your findings.
Technically they could Frodo but I doubt they'd go to the trouble. If they were worried, they'd at least chose a site people had to register to vote on. Btw, not that I'd really know this but if you happen to clear the cookies in your broswer, even just for the last hour or even for just the site, you may be able to vote again, not that I'd really know though. If people were using Firefox, it's in Tools Clear Recent History Cookies (that's all you need checked) For Last Hour... apparently.
Also, they cannot discriminate purely on IP address as for instance myself, my wife, daughter and son, all use different computers in the house but would appear on that site as all having the same IP address (similarily from a work perspective ... everyone accessing the page from the same company would more than likely have the same IP address registered, so for example for a company like HSBC that could be thousands) ... so even if they do try to say something it is not a valid argument
oh and if you really did want to change your IP address each time, you just need to reboot your router and you should get a new one dynamically allocated by your ISP. (this is also why quite a few 'forum bans' by IP address are less than useless )
