Just reading the small print for the Monarch bike luggage - max 20kg allowance. Now the bike box weighs 13kg and the bike weigh 8.5kg, which totals 21.5kg! So is that an good enough excuse to buy a new, lighter bike?
I've just had a call from a lovely woman at the company confirming the booking. I mentioned to her that Barley had mailed and that she'd received a rash of bookings yesterday and that we were all friends. She said that if I contact her nearer the time with all our details, they can place us all in close proximity to each other. I said we don't need apartments with the joining doors but to be near to each other might be nice.
Had to pull my name from this, sorry folks. Going through a divorce, my marriage being my one and only DNF to date, and my life is all over the place at the moment.
My dodgy calf/achilles has plagued me since May and I broke three ribs about a month ago. I have felt better in my life, but I'm a pretty resilient amoeba and I just need a couple of extra months to get the monkeys off my back.
Instead of cancelling my entry, I took the recently introduced option of transferring it to IM Switzerland, which I'm hoping will give me that bit more time to clear my head and get down to some decent work.
I'll miss the craic as I think this is going to be an exceptional trip, it already has that feel about it. Good luck to those going, I hope you'll all have a ball.

VT .. very sorry not to have you aboard but it sounds a sensible option
I hope everything sorts itself out for IMCH
Chin up VT'd, best of luck. You shouldn't think too hard on your long swims
Thanks guys, I'd be more concerned about me letting the side down than anything else. Always been a team player.
LOL @ Cat, you really are one in a million .
VT'd, sounds like a sensible decision all things considered, an Ironman is difficult enough without having other pressures to contend with.
Have you sorted all my bookings Meldy?
I directed you to a link on a page FFS ... once you sort out when you are going and how many of you I can do the rest of the itinery for you FFS
Oh dear, oh dear Melds! I feel your pain
Honestly !!!! It was so much more hassel when I had to shepherd the ginger whinger as well
Quick, Bassy, sort it out, else you'll be wrapping yourself in brown paper and shipping yourself out there...
to Melds
Flights for us should be booked over the weekend so all done and dusted until I ahve to pack.
I am quite looking forward to this and I ain't doing it
So is that no then?
It's a poor effort mate, you ask her to sort a couple of things out and this is what you get...
Shabby. There was a time when she looked after my travel arrangements with zeal. Now its a cursery "go here" and a weblink.
Good luck with that!
You hanging around here rather a lot Mr Symes .... something you wish to cough too ???
