I had a great day at Mudchute, brought along my brolly for nothing! Congratulations to ev eryone who took part. It was great to finally meet people like Sister Bad Habit, Foxy Lady, B, Liverbird, and others!
I missed you all! No idea how - I was looking out too. Also missed my family...suspect I may have ran large parts with my eyes closed!
I found the day overwhelming - so many people running for personal reasons with pics of loved ones on their vests, crowd support which can only be described as amazing and people in running-defying costumes! That said, I was really demoralised on leaving Canary Wharf having missed everybody, found the weather hot (it can't win, I'd have complained if it was wet!) and found it very congested and had to just stop running many times as I couldn't get through, especially in the last mile. My chip time was 4hrs 58 mins so I am happy to be sub 5, but no PB for me today. VLM really is an amazing experience.
Even though I missed you, thanks anyway for all the support here - it made the build up a lot more enjoyable and felt a bit like I wasn't running alone ;0)
THANK YOU!, all you fabulous supporters at Mile 17 (and other places) - it meant such a lot to see you all waiting beneath the yellow and blue balloons and the hugs and champagne were a huge boost. Sorry for the tears, but I found it very emotional seeing people like TP, Womble, Foxy Lady and others who have walked the difficult path with me over the past year. I had a LOT of tears after I crossed the finish line and again when I met up with Mr ST and LD again at the end (they saw me at seven different points en route, the superstars!).
Thank you again - I know how much goes into making Mile 17 happen and we all deeply appreciate it. You are total stars
Yes, I read that - terribly sad. Imagine, she woke up this morning, nervous and excited about the race and her family and friends would be waiting to hear how she did and then something so tragic happens.
very very very sad about her death. so tragic. Makes you think and the extreme pressure we put our bodies under for the marathon. Very sad.
I also missed you guys! I was completely do-lally at that point. And many other points to be frank. What with having to pull my trousers down for a bottom massage quite early on, i decided just to block the experience out and get on with it! Done. Dusted. NEVER EVER AGAIN.
Thank you all so much for organising this / turning up / hanging round for so long. Mile 17 was a highlight for me, was looking forward to spotting you all! Only got to say hello to Foxy (easy to spot in *that* T-shirt!), but thanks for the hug and for pre-opening my shotbloks and gel for me )

Hope everyone's heads / sunburn is okay today!
I have a sore bottom. Something to do with a vague recollection of bouncing on balloons till they burst I suppose.

Today I am a little hoarse and ny ankles and calves are stiff ... you'd think i had been standing round all day shouting ....

My favorite part was the Chandos pacing group
