Cougs it's easy, when you go up the ramp away from the canal cross the road straight ahead of you into Brandwood Park road then take the first left(Shelfield road) and look for an opening on the right leading back down to the canal. It should all be sign posted
If you look up Shelfield road Birmingham, on google street view you can see it.
Alternatively you can wait till I get there with the last person...
