Early Feb, according to the organizer's website ... so I suppose any day now.
Funnily enough I was investigating this just t'other day. Seems to be a few Olympics-related goings-on at Box Hill this summer and I was wondering if they would affect the MM. (Maybe hoping they would, those steps hurt on the 10th climbing).
Yippee - email notification received at 8.42pm, entry completed by 9pm
<Sigh> I supposed I'd better get my day's leave booked and entry in for this one.
Done it twice before. You'd think I'm old enough to know better.
Just entered my fiance Tigeress into the race, as a birthday present.
The first words she said was, OH MY GOD.
So let me get this straight. You have wimped out of the MM and instead put your lady up for it.
And she's still with you??
Yes I've lost my bottle and my fitness at the mo. Tigeress asked me to enter her for her birthday. It will be Tigeress' 3rd time of running it. She would have left me if I hadn't entered her.
227 entered - 23 places left...
This is just to let you know that there will be a run-through of the outward leg of the Midsummer Munro (ie first quarter of the Picnic), starting at 4pm from the race start (bottom of the Zig Zag Road, Mickleham, RH5 6BN). We will be going slowly, and we will complete the 7 mile run in about 2 hours (we stop often!). You do not have to tell me that you are coming - or not - just turn up. Well behaved dogs are also welcome, as are non-registered runners/guests.
D'Oh! The run-through is on Saturday 2 June.
I'm hopeing for all you runners that it isn't as hot as it has been the last two wweks.
The run-through today revealed the full extent of this year's Midsummer Munro.... it will be approximately 15 miles in length, with around 3500 feet of ascent and descent. Good luck everyone!
15 MILES !!?!!?? I haven't even made it to double figures on the flat for 3 months thanks to injury. I'm now officially scared
Incidentally, don't know if anyone else has noticed but it looks like the stretch of the A24 leading to Ryka's will be closed from 8pm for resurfacing so a fairly long diversion may be in order for people leaving after then. I was fairly confident of getting away in time but .... 15 Miles!?
Recalculating.... 15.6 to 16 miles.... special 'Olympic' edition.
Thanks for the run through yesterday Dr Rob - I enjoyed it even if it didnt always look that way! I was a bit doubtful about the 15 miles and agree that nearer to 16 would seem about right if we did 9 on the run through.
Outward route http://connect.garmin.com/activity/185467164 - many thanks to Hari
(Can't seem to get that to link through - just cut and paste if you are interested enough!)
Linkety link clickety click
Just look at that elevation profile .... mmm tasty.
So if this year's Munro is 16 miles is the Picnic 32?
Looking at that route it seems we're going up the ZigZag Road?
Will I need trail shoes for this?!
