I am currently running around 50 miles a week following a Hanson's marathon plan. Where are I am looking to get quicker in the mileage I run rather than run longer as my training plan progresses. I do 2 speeds session a week with my local running club, around 5 * 20 minute cross training sessions and cycle to work 4 days a week (4 * 18 miles)
I am training for Ultra's up to 50 miles this year but want to have a try at a 100 mile event next year.
Would be curious to know from other runners whether they think it is necessary to start doing longer runs with back to back at weekends to improve times for 50 and 100 mile events.
Is quantity over quality better?
