  • Not crazy at all .. in fact you are practically over qualified lol.. Many of us signed up for a first IM with a much lower baseline of training/experience/ability .   IMW 2012 still has places ... image
  • You dont have to join the pirates as such, just order some kit, hang around the forums and join in the banter and chat.

What I like the most is the friendly nature of everyone at races, mutual support, and above all the sense of having fun.

There are also a number of ad hoc training rides people arrange, so keep your eye out on the threads.

See you at IM Wales (or ExtravaLanza) next year, if not before.
  • Look for people in yellow and black at races wander over say arrrrrrrrrrrrr! and your in oh and think of a forum name generally the dafter the better
  • It's definitely better to choose your own name... Otherwise horrible people give you one and won't let you be known as anything else... sigh....imageimage

  • And we'll be expecting to see your run. Gladys is a fine example image

  • Just bumped a thread for you Mark. Also check out the PSOF website
  • I DON'T EFFING MINCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! imageimageimageimageimage
  • I didn't say that you minced (here). image
  • My return from injury jog/run/limp had a definate air of mince about it image

  • Gladys the stunt double.

Note Barlos' subtle throwaway line "There are also a number of ad hoc training rides people arrange, so keep your eye out on the threads."

Then note that Mark appears to hail from Smiffy country..... ad hoc death more like...;O)

  • Gladys is going to kill me but this ref is how to do it properly, apparently he is real....brilliant.
  • Schmunkee - The List Fairy wrote (see)

And click here and give some thought to coming along and helping support the Pirates in their chosen Championship Iron Distance event for this year

  • Thanks everyone image

Id better sort out a name for myself, before I get one I regret image
  • Don't bother 'Flower' will do you nicely - Coming from the Garden of England that will be fine! image
  • "You dont have to join the pirates as such, just order some kit, hang around the forums and join in the banter and chat."

you might want to do a LITTLE bit of training at some point, just in case you get carried away with the easy life !
  • Yay Rosey, bloke at Runbreeze mentioned you at the tri show Saturday. Little feller. Which probably means he is a sub 10 hour bloke...
  • Funny boy, Dustboy, funny boy...

    image image

Still, he's got nothing on Cougie and Jaffa!
  • MarkofKent

Where abouts do you do your training,?
  • Wildwill -

Ive not done much training as yet image

I do the odd run in Cliffe nr Rochester,
Yesterday I did a 2mile swim in 1:09 (which I was well happy with) a local 25meter pool

Not jumped on the bike yet (bit worried about that grrrrrrrrrr)
  • During the week i train in / around Maidstone, one open water season starts I will be hitting laybourn lake
  • I've joined up Leybourne this year image
  • Used leybourne for some swims last year .. they had some water quality issues at the end of the season but am told all ok again now.   Will be back there myself in a month or so , or  at the one just along the road ( name escapes me ) .   Did quite a lot of sea swims on the kent coast at Walpole bay .. huge sea pool there so no worries about getting the tide times spot on .. also a good cafe and hot showers for cafe customers .  Will be bringing that into the routine for the occasional Sunday morning from April.
