Are you aiming for 5hrs Claire? If you are I may well see you en route as I'm hoping for the same (leg permitting!). And 5hrs isn't slow. It's a perfectly sensible time and quicker than I did it 2 years ago. Though I did have stress fractures then... Oh wait a minute... There seems to be a pattern here...
Lol - must try not to do that after the fizz kicks in
Claire and Becks - I did flm 09 in more than 6 hours I am not a runner and it was a one time only but I was determined to enjoy it which included stopping at 17 for a half hour chat with Nam and Bear who were my support group!!!! In fact sssshhh - I'm a fraud really, I didn't run before and haven't since, I just love the buzz of helping others round the course it was all about raising money for charity for me, plus it was one off the bucket list tbh.....but then that's why I've crossed the fence for the last three years, its just such a fantastic day and an amazing experience especially if we get to see 'our' runners at Chandos afterwards x
Call you phick n mill! I'll prob end up calling gillymac millygac too..........it can be a long old day for the supporters too! Only kidding, I stay on my game while we're all at mudchute, its later it goes slightly to pot with all the celebrating
SBH- it took me over 6 hrs in 2010 which I blame entirely on you and gillymac! I was chuffed to be the slowest RW runner through mile 17. I've never won anything before.
My leg's okay thanks Claire. I'm still waiting for my bone scan but my (new and more helpful!) physio is fairly certain I've a stress fracture. Fortunately it only hurts if I run. Lucky I'm not training for a marathon or anything so foolish
I live in Blackheath so will update you all on marathon preps nearer the time - currently not quite sure how the start will work as here are a lot of olympic preparations situated on the Heath and at the entrance to the park.....
have done this 5 times before but at my ripe old age (am officially a vet! ) think this may be my last....
training has been mixed - had a fabulous 20 miler last week and then a rubbish 16 miler yesterday...... not sure what the 22nd will hold.
Hey gladrags long time no speak. I've not been on the forums for ages, change of job, studying and planning a wedding has left little time to get on here. Still making time to support vlm tho. How is the 4:30 thread must pop in there and say hello!
Hello fabulous group one people - hope the training is going well.
Like Gladrags, mine has been mixed but had a great 17 miler yesterday and for the first time was persuaded that 26.2 might just be possible - again.
Vital stats are:
I'm Helen but I'll have "Screamy" on my vest - it seemed to go down quite well with the crowd last time.
I'm running for Londons' Air Ambulance so I'll be wearing a bright red vest (and sunglasses if it's a bright day). Also my face will probably be the same colour as my vest
Running number is 1342 - no I'm not superfast, I had a deferral
If all goes well it'll take about 3.15 to get to Mudchute.
Hello everyone.. After my 18 mile run on Sunday I feel almost recovered!! Get in. Forgot to submit my info last night. Should be able to do it tonight.
Quick question, other than carrying a phone with Google Latitude running, is there a simpler way for you to be tracked around the course?
Stevie, if i remember correctly, there is an app or similar that you can sign up to and give it mobile numbers of peepholes that it will txt when you pass various distances. (does that make sense? I've been to the pub )
Gladrags, whereabouts in Blackheath are you? I live there too and was wondering the same about the olympic preparations. Will you have the pleasure of having your road shut off for the day?
Am I right in thinking we currently have 4 Group 1 runners aiming for 5 hours... It's going to be like waiting for buses for our lovely supporting team!
Minardi, I think there is an app but I can't remember where I found it or how accurate it was!
Becks - am off Lee Road so no our road doesn't get closed for the marathon - or for any of the olympic stuff which is a huge relief! you?
didn;t realise we were exchanging stats already.... am aiming for 4h45 ish. so mile 17 shd be about 1pm allowing 10 mins to cross the line? am wearing a white Royal Marsden vest and will have Gladrags written on the front -not sure on running no yet.....
interested to hear more about this ap? i know the VLM have tried various online tracking things over the past few years that have never quite worked - excellent if there's something better now!
gilly - 4h30 thread still going - i still lurk! were you on wotsit's thread too? that's still ticking along 3 years after she was a super 6!
right - no training tonight - off for 40th birthday drinks with a friend!
Some of you will no doubt know a lot about us , some may not
So, to say -
We as already stated hope to get to Mudchute to have a day of fun
But my day will depend on Philip’s behaviour, as he is most content on the move, and not so much us being static
He sadly does not give me much chance to socialise with anyone, he really craves my attention , Philip can be extremely demanding, he can do very little for himself, and he cannot talk he shreaks
So, please if I appear to be ignoring anyone or not interested, I’m sorry, I’ll do my utmost best to be respectful and polite and sociable to you all , but my life is easier when he’s happy
I myself would so much rather be running, and its only due to London marathon bosses that we are not
So, my apologies are given up front,
I do hope you all have a fabulas day
If there’s is anything you’d like to know from me, then please feel free to ask, online here or on the day, and I’ll do my best to accommodate you
Gladrags - I'm on Lee Road so just get the hundreds of buses chugging up and down the road with runners on the day! Small world!!
I should have been running tonight but kind of listening to the physio and cut down to just 2 runs a week. I'm actually getting restless not being 'allowed' to run which I never thought would happen! A friend suggested pool running but a) would feel a bit of a numpty doing it and b) would I actually be able to 'run' in a normal public pool?
