Denny, if you need to rest up don't worry, your body really will thank you for it on the day, just be prepared to adjust your finishing time accordingly. Last time I ran the VLM I didn't run at all for 2 weeks before. All the niggles went away and I felt great a the start line - the heat put paid to my plans on the day but that could happen to anyone.
My 19 miler went well today and it was a tougher route than usual so I was really pleased. I may repeat next Monday, I'll see how I feel, otherwise I'll start the taper.

Gilly, there's a reason my avatar is Mr Bump although in the shoulder v window incident the window was at fault - who designs a building so a window opens out over the footpath at head height?!! Although it could be argued I should have been paying more attention to where I was running
Denny, well done on getting round the half and as others have said, I am sure you have banked enough miles now to get round London. Hopefully all your aches and pains will have gone by the 22nd and you'll fly round (not literally, obviously!)

My pack finally appeared today and I'll be at the blue start with you, Claire.
Does anyone know what time the "just get round" pacers will get you round in? I know they run-walk it and I'm thinking I may have to go for that approach.
Denny, as the others have said a rest will do u good. I didn't run for two weeks before my 2nd mara in 2008. I did have to adjust my time on the day. Also I know it's a really tough choice but have u considered deferring if the Physio can't sort out the knees?

absolutely no way - on the 22nd april 2012 i am going to cross that finish line with the biggest smile on my face the docs have confirmed nothing is broken and it's a tight IT band that is causing the pain - so i'm sat there in bed last night massaging my quads with a homedics quad massager that looks like something you'd see on the shelves in ann summers!
this morning it feels a little better and i'm seeing the physio at 10 for a sports massage plus i will work from home until it is better

Becks I got up at 5-30 and was out at about 7 so I did avoid most of the heat but I am a slowbie so miles 14 onwards were a bit on the warm side.
The big bonus is that today I'm not feeling the effects at all - no fatigue, no muscle soreness. Last time round I think I spent about 2 days on the sofa
I'm also on the blue start - ooh and a quick update for SBH - I gave you the running number from before I deferred, this year it's actually 17712
Denny - perhaps the quad massager is dual purpose
