Nikki - I suffered a lot last year, hate running in the heat. But I had an injury as well so didn't help. I think Gels and sips of water help and during the last few miles I added a NUNN hydration tablet to my water.
I ran a 22 miler today - managed to convince Mr Biscuit Nikki to meet me at mile 16 and run the last bit with me. Made a big difference having someone on fresh legs to keep me company for the last part and I am feeling a lot better about today in comparison to my other 20 mile long runs. Reading half marathon to look forward to next weekend!
Well done on everyone's training, Hash I agree with you about that pair of planks and the stupid BBC. Mick sorry to hear you never got to run reading. As for me I got just over 11 miles in nice and easy this morning.
3.15, I was really pleased. Felt comfortable and kept a steady 10 min mile pace. No particular aches or pains today apart from my little toe which is suffering, I can only assume the heat and length of time running makes my feet swell up as I never have problems on shorter runs.
I really enjoyed it though, fab day to be out running in beautiful countryside
It's surprising the difference a cap makes in hot weather. Or at least I am surpised by it! I think that was one of the factors that helped me on Sunday.
Mick you're right about the elites sticking to their training from the start. I always like to think though that they also have the time to train for it, unlike all of us mere mortals that have to hold down jobs and family commitments.
My marathon mag still hasn't arrived. I got a bit impatient today and phoned up. Was told that they are sending them out over several days and to wait until the end of this week before calling again. Whoops! However in the mean time I found my original acceptance e-mail (as I defered from last year due to a stress fracture) and my number is 55900. So I am definitely in!
James - enjoy the long run. Hopefully it will have cooled down for you a bit now.
Really no idea, it depends on the weather. Bear in mind we'll be out there from 9am to at least 2pm, so if it's freezing or raining then pretty much my entire wardrobe as it gets really cold when you're standing around for hours. Look for the RW banner (assuming they find it!) then the 4 sign, and one of us will be under that waiting for you.
Okay, forum geek reporting in. Those of you who have sent me your e-mail address, you should have an e-mail with the link to the spreadsheet. Please add your own e-mail/mobile number if you're comfortable with that, otherwise the only info in there is what's been shared on here already, plus my details. You should all have the right permissions to edit.
If anyone else would like access, please just PM me your e-mail address. I can only do stuff with this in the evenings, so apologies if it takes a while to get back to you.
Good luck James, let us know how it went.
We are having "brown" this evening as I'm crap at labelling what's in the freezer, took it out this morning and hoped for the best. It has kidney beans in it, so Hercule here has deduced chilli

Biscuit Nikki, nice run! I managed a 20 miler on Sunday and thought that was far enough.

No, just to finish, though I suppose it would be nice to beat my last time which was 4.44. We'll see ... the first 20 are the easy ones
I am in total awe the guys who do these distances in just over a couple of hours....
Iron pingu
