I'm not 100% sure where we are in relation to the water station - I think from the map we'll be before them. But look out for the Runners World banners once you pass the Lord Nelson and you can't miss us.
hi ya , yeah think so somehow , it did when I did FLM in 2008 . Anyways part of the fun buildup.
What's everyones running numbers? ? and best and worst times hoped for ?
Myself -- 9293 ,
best time in fairy land - 4hours 30 , worst time 5hrs 30 ? Last time official time 5hrs 2 mins ( though Garmin said I did 27.4 miles!!!) Probable time 5 hours!!!
dave, just pace yourself steady btw. First 4 will be chaotic and slow apparently, I was advised to save some in the tank to speed up in the last four and apart from a slow first mile (9.45) at start, a random quickone in the middle (8.05), was pretty even across the way and managed to sub 9 the last mile and a bit.
Think about your aims and get a pacing band at the expo (well several for different options). I actually passed the time by doing pacing maths every mile marker. The maths got harder and the brain slower as the numbers got bigger.
If you are doing it for charity, the first HM I did, i worked out how much I had raised each mile to keep me going....
Anyway enough randomness, it was the red laces that set me off I think.
My number is 25090. Best time 3hrs30min last year in Rome. However, I'll be pleased with sub 4 hours this year, as I have a hamstring injury which is slowing me down a lot, but it survived 22 miles, so I'm hoping it'll survive 26.2! Going to the expo on Friday p.m.
Hooray - got my number! Only had to wait for a few mins just before midday, managed to meet up with 2 forumites, a very quick wander around and then had to set off for home again.
Looking at the stalls, probably a good job I didn't have longer there - could have been expensive!
No time aims here - after missing 5 weeks of training I'm truly just aiming to finish
Oh - and forgot to say, dropped off some supplies for me, some for anyone and a contribution at the RW stand. Hopefully all will make it to the right place at the right time!
I put a packet of shot bloks in a bag for me - any chance they can be cut open on the morning so I'm not left trying to tear them open with my teeth???? (That smiley is me chewing a packet of shot bloks open) If you don't get a chance, then don't worry. It'll give me something to do
Emmy_bug - I'm presuming as 6 is the last group, I might just have noticed them by the time I get to number 6!!
@B&T - i'm holding nothing to chance Good idea about the shot blocks.... I'm still trying to work out the best way to open my gels without stopping and asking randoms to do it for me!
Emmy-bug Stopped and bought water at a little post office on one of my long runs. Hands were so wet I had to ask the shop lady to open it for me <blush>
Lol! B&T - you sound like me! I once stopped a dog walker during one of my long runs to ask if they could open a gel for me. I saw them the following week and they offered to do it for me again. Now whenever I see them - they're carrying a pair of scissors and smiling as I approach!
Emmy_Bug - I usually pre-cut the tops of the gels a little bit, so they are easier to tear open on the day. However, I have got it wrong occasionally and found they have leaked into the pocket of my shorts. Yuk!

But obviously we will be too busy supporting to visit it! I have been crosstraining in my gym this morning. My post-mara plan is on target! yay!
Really recommend a sports massage on day 2! Ouch but helped.
put my red laces in last night,
my running top arrived this morning at work tee hee I love it!!
may get number today as I'm in North greenwich , though I have Friday off for it too

Thanks Foxy !
Dare I ask your time , your slow pace is my fast pace lol , call me a snail
Dave- did Brighton (my first) in 4:01. Average 9.10mm pace, and I'm an old lady!
The next one will be a little slower: Wales Trail Marathon....there be mountains. Not a PB course! And stations have flapjacks rather than shotbloks.
Looking at the stalls, probably a good job I didn't have longer there - could have been expensive!

Exciting re number B&T, really happening now..... heads off to cut out HUGE SILVER 6.....
I'm going to write a big "6" on my hand to remind me which group to go to...
I'm off to the expo on saturday!

Emmy_Bug - glad to see you've got your unofficial support team trained and organised!
I have a pair of scissors on my packing list so I can open my other packet of shot bloks before I set off
El Gato - that's what i'm scared about. Ive tried it a couple of times but both times the gels have leaked a mess all over my back
@B&T - It's nice to see them. It gets a bit lonely when I run 20 miles by myself so having them on hand really spurred me on!
