Losing aerobic fitness

I am a week into a rest due to sore tendons on the top of my foot.   Really starting to worry that the fitness I have worked hard to get is going,  

How long is it before the aerobic fitess tapers off?

If I was to swim an hour a night would that help?



  • I've seen somewhere that you can take up to 2 weeks off with no loss of fitness.

    If you can swim then that would be better than sitting on the sofa.
  • I got out of running a few years ago and I reckon it took me two months to lose virtually all the aerobic fitness I built over the year leading up to that point. It's only a few weeks lost IMO and not the end of the world - anything like swimming will help and it's also better to look at the longer term picture than risk getting injured.
