I was hoping for some advice. I am planning to run (or possibly crawl round) the first Trunce race of the season on Monday 26th March. It's the first time I've ever done it (in fact it will be my first ever running event of any kind) but I was wondering what shoes to wear as I don't own a pair of cross-country/fell shoes (and don't really want to buy any yet in case I really don't enjoy it!).
I have a pair of road runners (Brooks Adrenaline GTS). Alternatively, I have a pair of trail shoes from The North Face (called Hedgehog GTS). These are brand new (not worn outside even yet so not 'broken in') and I bought them as a walking shoe with no intention to run in them. However, looking online it seems they are designed for 'speed walking', but they are definitely much heavier and a bit bulkier than road/fell trainers.
Could anyone who has run route before could give me any advice?I know you run through a river at least once but I know nothing else about the terrain.
Should I sacrifice grip by going for the comfortable and light road runners, or brave the heavier and more cumbersome trail shoes?
Thanks in advance for your help!
