WHERE ARE THE RUNDISNEY MARATHON WEEKEND POSTS???!!!???
I'm left here with all this excitement bubbling away inside, waiting for some little tit-bits of information so I can release the excitement and run around the family getting them all excited.......and there's nothing!.......yet!
We set off for Orlando in a few weeks!
Can you imagine what I am going to be like a few days before we go!?!?
The Original number of Goofy runners was limited to 3,500 for the first 5 years after that the number was increased to 7,000, So in the past it would sell out by mid February
Just trying to get the enthusiasm to get out of the door for a run. Weather looks a bit miserable but that will probably make me run quicker to get back home!!
Hmmm...never really picked up on that one before JP - but good choice!
Well, after a few weeks of general busy-ness, marathon recovery, bad weather and a monster cold, I finally braved the road/pavement today instead of the treadmill. Wasn't too bad - fastest 7.5miles for a while - but my lungs were suffering and coughing up the remnants of the cold.
Now I need to pluck up courage to do the long runs outside again.....
I seem to go through stages - for a few months in late summer I couldn't face the treadmill and always had to run outside - now it's the other way round?!?
Go for it GG you know you will feel great afterwards. Really not that much longer for hard training now we will soon be tapering. Mmm now I've said it I'm feeling quite panicky.
Don't think the taper of doom will be happening up here. I'm seriuosly trying to play catch up to be fit enough to run this one.
Very long run on dreadmill on saturday. Thought it would be a bit kinder on my leg than tarmac and have to say I'm pleasantly surprised how going back to running 4 days a week has seemingly fixed me. I'll suffer on day at 2 in disney (and may not walk much on day 3 in the parks) but I was worried I may not run at all. Its an awful long way to go to spectate!!!
How are you feeling minnie. Are the little leggies any better???
HI C33 - I had to relent in the end and fork out for Physio. Its as I thought - unhappy ITB with the added joy of a minor tear in one of my butt muscles (ouch). Physio said I can keep training but to listen to my body. This has meant my long runs have been no longer than 13 miles followed by a walk with the dog for a few more to get the time on my feet.
Its really frustrating but come hell or high water im going to get that medal !
Love the last sentence, MM! I think we all feel a bit like that about these medals!
Set off for a run today (with a detour to give my son the dinner money he forgot this morning!) - thought by lunch-time the ice would have melted in the sun - I was very wrong. I slipped, slid and walked about 4 miles (would have been 7 but I turned back at one point when I realised I wouldn't make it to school on time). I was very cold and very grumpy by the time I got back.
It seems it has not been ideal Goofy training so far for a few of us!
Oh no, not good MM, not good news, still if you're managing 13, thats Saturday done, then rest and then half way on Sunday, so only 13 to find and still a good few weeks to get even fitter
Was very windy here, on Sunday, GoofyG, so I ditched the long run as didn't fancy another go in the "wind tunnel"!! ...which meant going out today as it's my day off. It was pretty chilly, just above freezing in the sun but white n frosty in the shade. It was surprisingly ok to run on, worst bits were when I had to step onto the "gritted roads". It was like running on a sheet of ice ....no logic there!
Managed to bag a 20 miler, and my legs don't seem to ache the way they did a few weeks ago when I did it, so I must be doing something right
One thing that was good, was I got to give my Disney marathon 2012 long sleeve top a run-out as it was so cold!! I don't normally like to wear long sleeves, but today it was perfect for it.
I have my 20 to do this weekend. Hopefully nice and slow, so fingers crossed for some ok (ish) weather. Am wearing my long sleeve disney tops with pride and a nice incentive to get the medals in a few weeks time.
Think I deserve a brownie point for that one......11 miles in cold wind and freezing rain. (Every run I do outside now seems to take me back to Venice....cold, windy and rainy!)

Yey!
Got to be 'Go The Distance' as a Disney song and 'Lose Yourself' as non-Disney!
Dannirr - they always have someone to sing the national anthem before the races anyway.
