Just updated my facebook software on the phone, it actually works now! I really wish I'd gone for the iPhone over the HTC...

Those antibiotics are dragging on mima! You won't have a scrap of bacteria left in you by the time your done! Hope ur feeling better
  • yay! Will chicken, leek and mushroom "hotpot" help Caz?

I love lemon curd...oooh lemon tart! I know Mr F - today is FINALLY the last day of taking them. I am now bug free and almost healthy again!

  • SuperCazSuperCaz ✭✭✭

Sounds lovely Ducky.  I don't seem to cook anything exciting now that I am cooking for one.  I really should make an effort but I can't be bothered.

  • mr fmr f ✭✭✭
Awwww! Il send over an exciting food parcel!
  • It also has ham and carrots in it too...yummy! Sounds weird, but it works.

  • SuperCazSuperCaz ✭✭✭

Thanks Mr F.  I like carrots and ham too Duck.

Anyone else watching the trash that is Britains got talent? Those rapping geriatrics were just tooooooo much!
  • Mmm, lemon curd. I can't have that or peanut butter in the house or I eat them in about a minute. Other Mr F caught trout tonight in a pitta again, I think I have got a pit of a habit (oh ha ha me) averaging 2 a day at the moment.

  • I can't have peanut butter in the house for the same reason Kate. I used to keep it in my car so that if I really wanted it I could have some but it was a bit of a job to get. Then I started dipping in while driving so I had to put a stop to that too!

  • morning all

It's war paint morning here. My big boss aka Voldemort has arrived. Very glad I wore a shirt to work and my new smart trousers. And war paint. Times like this I wish I wasn't the only woman here.

  • mr fmr f ✭✭✭
Hello folks! Slightly bad head this morning, too dehydrated before a couple of beers last night I think!

Good luck with the boss mima, don't let him catch you on RW when he walks past!in terms of peanut butter I have to admit my weakness too.. albeit it has to be natural peanut butter, and always crunchy. I'm not a smooth fan. Still, in terms of snacking its a pretty good option! Better than my second weakness of nutella which I can eat by the spoon!
  • SuperCazSuperCaz ✭✭✭

Yuk to peanut butter and nutella.  But I can eat marmite by the spoonful

  • BookyBooky ✭✭✭

Peanut butter is insanely gorgeous and addictive. Straight off the spoon, or better yet, just dig in with a (clean) finger image The crunchier the better, although not quite as far as back to the peanut stage image

    What do you do mima?

  • YUCK...peanuts make me feel sick...not too keen on Nutella either. Love Lemon curd though.

I'm a Facilities Manager and Auditor...for my sins. I manage the data centres and building...and I audit Information Security. But my boss (the big boss) is a misogynistic (and chauventistic) dinosaur who thinks women should be secretaries and not much else. My line manager on the other hand, is just delightful. He encourages me to take on more responsibility and duties and tasks and always backs me up. But in the building of 36 of us, I am the only woman.

  • BookyBooky ✭✭✭

Ooh, that must be a bit awkward. It shouldn't be, but I bet it is.

    Lemon curd is brilliant image

  • And looking at the last post, I realised I am terrible at spelling! Oh the shame! For the most part its ok - occasionally the boys end up pushing me too far and I let fly...they soon learn not to push me.

The main problem is I tend to forget I am a woman after a while...my language sometimes is appalling...and I am always playing "keep up" with lots of things...all so that I can remain part of the team. Exhausting.

I made lemon curd for the tart when my folks were up...not sure I'll do it again...but it tasted delicious!

My last job was predominently men too Duck.  I've never been a girly girl, and I liked being the one to define the clothes and look of the female part of the department, rather than having to look more girly than I wanted too because thats what the other girls did (which I did for previous jobs).

Usually the lads were fine, but occassionally I would have to remind them that I was female.  For example, when they asked me to join in with Movember and I had to point out that I was physically incapable of growing a tache.  There were also a few other times when they got talking about their genitals etc, but I would get my point across by talking about mine (or periods) and they soon shut up.

The older ones tended to treat me as a secretary, but I made it clear with the ones that mattered that I wasn't going to take on that role.

I've seen a recipe for passion fruit curd I want to try image

Super caz, you sound like one tough cookie!

I used to be really sensitive but have learnt not to get offended easily or take things personally.  At least when it comes to work people.  If you don't fight your corner then you end up in a heap on the floor being walked over.

Still very sensitive when it comes to friends and relationships though.

A friend of mine (female) joined in with Movember. She'd come in to work each day with a different stick on moustache cut out from paper image

Sarah, there are lots of us sensitive folk around!I think its a good thing.

AS for the garden, rain has just stopped play, the covers are on, its bad light so time for a cup of tea! Just trying to sort out a border under my front lounge window. Its been untidy for ages and its one of things ive looked at daily and thought that someday Id get around to doing something meaningful with it! Its amazing what some patterned wod, bark chippings and a few potted plants can do! Especially for those of us who arent especially green fingered.... On top of that a bit of mowing, sweeping and bush trimming!!!!!!! image

I did movember last year, a bit of a feeble effort as im naturally very fair haired! Still managed to raise over £1500 with some colleagues from work. I just looked a bit daft in my sistes wedding photos which came about 3 days before the end of the month, I looked like a porn star!

  • I went for a plod on my lunch break and my shin didn't like it image so I had a peanut butter kitkat chunky with a brew and now everything's okay!

How does one make lemon curd, or any other curd for that matter? I'm rubbish at those domesticy type things!

Lemons and eggs whisked together over heat I believe.  I've never tried it as it sounded complicated to me.

  • exactly as SC says...lots of stirring and whisking and arm ache....and worry. But it tastes amazing and is therefore worth it...although tbh it tastes even better when someone else makes it!

  • mr fmr f ✭✭✭
Is it really that simple? Might give it a go myself!
  • BookyBooky ✭✭✭

I have to admit I get a grom satisfaction from the arm ache associated with gadget-free cooking. Although I wouldn't recommend making a 14lb fruit cake without some help. My elbow hurt for days after that image

  • mr f - google Heston's lemon tart recipe - the filling is lemon curd and it is delicious. Worth the effort...but oh like Sarah said, the arm ache!
