Some runners at travelodge lost electricity in rooms. Hotel are paying for taxi to nearest hotel with rooms in Worthing!!!!! To make things worse there not even paying for return trip!!!!! Best laid plans. Nightmare!!!!
Well, plodded - brought the running group from freedom leisure and stuck with the least quickest on their first time! Were you with the 2 youngsters? They were very cheerful in both directions - gratitude from me.
Best of luck tomorrow from all of us at freedom.
PS. I am still wearing my earphones but tuck them in until I need them (probably around miles 20-22.. the renowned powerstation!)
Hope you both get sorted. That's a real bummer from Travelodge if they not getting you back in the morning! Can you not double up with other runners in the hotel. I'm sure they would help you out in this crisis.
Millsy: You are a life saver. Asda was still open and I managed to find a solution there. Thank you so much. The thought hadn't occured to me to think of Asda, I was thinking of all the running shops.
DTB: If I'm a moron again I'll try it.
GCE: Thanks for the suggestion but Boots was closed.
No picked up (White 3 hundred and something), no queue at all, expo a little thin on the ground, but will grow I am sure. Walked for miles with family around Brighton and the lanes visiting way too many shops, so perfect prep for tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great race tomorrow. Happy Running.
Morning all, the times arrived. The very best of luck to everybody.
Interestingly the running app is showing my number as somebody else, I knew they'd forget to swap numbers (they couldn't find my number at expo), that was enough for me to not to sleep....
Snowmaiden, thank goodness for Asda - I was going to lend you my duct tape
GCE - I hope you're going to track your real number too - be interesting to see if it makes it round the course......just hope it doesn't get a better time eh?!
Lovely to meet forumites yesterday afternoon - hope you found a suitable dinner somewhere JelleyB.
This is it now. I've trained well, fuelled well (ish - more cake than beetroot I'm ashamed to say) and slept well. I've got no injuries, I've not been ill and my kit is all ready to go....... So, why is my stomach doing somersaults?
Final word of wisdom (not my own), no fluids after 7am if you don't want to have to stop enroute. Good luck, stay calm and run like you did on your best ever training run. X
Piclelilly - if somebody else has my original number, I'm hoping it will be an elite Ethiopian! That'll qualify me for Boston!!?
As for the tummy somersaults, I shouldn't worry now about weird things you'll find your body doing in the next few hours. I've literally just stood outside the hotel on the seafront and cried; goodness knows why?
Hope all the Worthing travelodge guys slept well.
Snowmaiden - don't forget extra caution to prevent chaffing with your new bra. Extra Vaseline needed perhaps?
Mark - that is shit luck with the hotel Some things don't enter the mind when planning, and that is one! Hope it doesn't spoil your day. Have a great race!
I'm taking the above drinking advice (Matt Fitzgerald?) - mouth rinces only after about 7:15am.
