Thanks, although i've now picked up what appears to be an eye infection. Eye has swollen up overnight, assuming it must have been from one of my swim sessions this week. Off to the quacks later to see whats occuirng
True pirate testing ahead - tri club's Christmas do on Saturday ... I asked if people were eating there and got the answer "Eating's cheating" - OMG - am I going to survive this? I normally have 2 pints and then need to go a have a sleep in a corner somewhere. At least Sunday will be a rest day ...
Brit - sounds like you might still be drinking on Sunday
Quality training day yesterday, ran a 21 minute 5k and then did a tough hour of 200m intervals in the pool, taking 5 seconds off the rest time after each one. Then to overload at the end did 6 x 25m at race speed again with a reduction in rest between each one.
Doing a radio interview today at 10.30am UK time for Talk Radio Europe, about Ironman and my second book. If you are bored and on the interwebby you can listen here just don't laugh at how bad I sound.
1hr swim and 30 min turbo done yesterday followed by 30 min run this morning.
I have my first Christmas bash tomorrow evening, friends to visit tonight and 4 teenage boys home tonight and tomorrow.
I have non standard pirate dilema, involving hair do's for parties.
I need to turbo 1 hr and run 1hr this weekend but on Sunday I will be very hungover, tomorrow at 1pm I get my hair done for the sat eve party, I mustn't wash it between now and then.
So how on earth do I fit the training in? 1hr run or 1hr turbo will necessitate washing hair and I'm not going to be well enough to do both or possibly either on Sunday.
Can't do either tonight as visiting friends straight from work and not home till late.
Also fingers crossed my house survives the boys, so far there's been damage done everytime. Nothing major just BB pellet dents in walls or deoderant spray wars taking the shine off door handles etc.
Hi not not getting it washed at 1pm; it's getting put into a up do which is easier with non freshly washed hair.
I did think of just getting on with it and if the hair do fails so be it, but am worried about being out of the house for another 1 to 2 hrs whilst 4 teenagers are in it!
NIce swim down in Cardiff international pool, A right bitch to get there with all the idiot xmas shoppers on the road , but the pool was suprisingly quiet. 2500m in 44 mins.
I find i can generate more power through the pedals when i sit forward on my seat, however, as you can imagine, it is not very comfortable perched on the front bit of the seat. My seat is as far forward as it can go. Can you get seat posts where the clamp is offset forward, so as to allow the seat to be nearer the handlebars?
You can get seat posts which put the saddle further forward than if the saddle was directly on top of the post. Another option, depending on the length of your stem, would be to get a shorter stem, so moving the haddle bars back.
a bit of manflu is keeping me out of the pool for now - i dont want it deteriorating to full on manflu.....
managed a couple of good quality runs and tonight I will have to jump on the turbo....
waiting for some tri bars in the mail as the profile air stryke I recovered from the garage are a) too narrow, b) too short and its making getting aero too irritating.
might also look to swap out the scott DH handlebars to something more regular
and then upgrading the rear mech, bar shifter and read wheel to 10spd ........
No bike fit. I have a Felt F95 and had the choice of 58cm or 61cm frame. At 6ft 2" with long limbs and going on the sizing charts, I went for a 61cm. Feels a good fit, but better when i`m over the BB as aposed to behind it. Probably only a minor adjustment in sitting position, but i feel the difference. On searching Wiggle, may buy a zero offset seat post, which in affect will move my seat forward.
Ended up having a rest day yesterday, lots of work on, so off for a 2 hour run with the dog later. Been p*ssing down all night ... going to be nice and muddy!

Top job SD!

Eeek SD that sounds nasty, hope the quacks can sort you out.
I was mainly concerned about being given anti-biotics and not being able to get mullered at tomorrows work do
Drink through it. Let the pirate inside out!
Hard 7 miler today at lunch. Even going downhill was a big ask. Too hot aswell, even ran in my jacket, which I immediately regretted.
Rest day for me
early night as I have a very silly early start tomorrow

teenage boys in the house you must be mad. Mine is turning into a teenager and I don't like it
Ali - train tomorrow morning?
Ali turbo and run tomorrow morning ... you'll be getting it washed at 1pm anyway!

I know my organisation skills are crud
A bit of sweat will hold it in place lovely then
As Meldy says sweat works wonders, my hair doesn't budge after a week without showering.

Nice swimming BBT. I'm aiming to get down to that pool sometime soon.
1hr in the gym for me today and that about all I had energy for, getting up at 3am doesnt agree with me

Dedication is seen as obsession by the uncommitted!
Took the kids out this morning, so got a good soaking on the bike this afternoon.
Good blog Tim. Well done.
