Fatman to Ironman

  • Welcome aboard Brandon.

I too spent the late afternoon with Mr Bond and the rollers.  Enjoyable.

As for my training plan, my 24 week plan actually starts tomorrow. Last week I miss counted.

As for 2014, I'm thinking IM Germany or Switzerland. That said, with mini me no 2 on the way, that may be wishful thinking.

I miss-counted my weeks too so I start a 24 week plan tomorrow as well. Doh!

  • Morning all ... another week begins ... I  so need some time off work image

  • so far no ill effects from yesterdays spin on the bike, I think i might have another hot date with Daniel later image

  • Looks like i'll be binning midweek running this week image 11 weeks training without missing any planned sessions so far so a bit gutted.

The muscle knot thats been niggling in my calf for a couple of weeks has actually now turned into a big bruise down the side of my calf, could hardly walk down the stairs this morning.

Back of the calfs are also a bit tender but putting that down to yesterdays 16 miler.

So, i'll bung in exta cycling to make up the training hours and then hopefully legs will have recovered enough for Sundays 3 hour run.
  • All the best SD! Fingers crossed for a speedy fix for you.
  • SD - be careful with your calves - maybe a sports massage might sort them out?

  • Evening all ... Not a bad days training for me.

    - 1mile timed swim at an easy paced 52 strokes per min ... Took 31:05 .. A little off where I want to be at this stroke rate ...

    - 2hrs 30min spin ... Includinge Sufferfest : TheWretched (twice)

    - 20min mixed pace run

    - 10min stretch

I'm still having problems with my knee tho ... May need to go back to physio image
  • I swam at lunchtime too but we did a lot of drills so I wasnt counting  image

I did however do a timed 16 at the end of the session as I am inclined to do these days as I think it gives a good indication of pace in IM and still managed a sub 7 so happy with that

Now I am at work til 2am, I shall run tomorrow before coming back in for some more of the same !

  • Will - ugh 2hours 30 on the turbo, I managed 1:30 and I was a disgusting mess after that... Did involve some delightful intervals though.... I tried too brick run after got about 10 metres down the road and legs decided no running today (raced a 16 miler yesterday so that's my excuse and I'm sticking too it) that's some nice training today mate well done!

M...Eldy - working until 2am sucks been there done that worn the t shirt way too many times, gave that up in favour for the 9-5!
  • Hump day today for all the fink outlaws, week 16 where did that come from.

    Nice training Will,

Hope the calf gets better quickly sdog

I'm feeling a bit tired today, heavy legs on the pm 9m run, morning swim was hard as well although the 2500m was done in 55mins which is okay for me, bike tomorrow so i'll push through as my bike needs work then if i'm still feeling worn down on Wed i'll swim but drop the PM run.
  • Jamie I wouldnt work 9-5 if you paid me double ... truly hate it  image

  • Morning all

Was very lazy today and slept through my alarm ... so missed my Drills swimming session image

  • Don't be too hard on yourself mate, Remember its the constituency throughout the year that gets you there it's not the end of the world! image
  • Ill probably do it Thursday AM instead ... as I have nothing in my plan for that slot this week ... well thats my thoughts anway

But next week I have a scheduled rest week (Easter Break) ... only a it of hiking and x-training image

  • Nice mate I'm on a early Easter break and been taking it easy the last couple of days just until tommoro where it's time too freeze too death on the bike! image
  • You MISSED your swim Will?  Think of me, I've got stitches in my hand and am not allowed to swim but desperately want to!

Thinking of taking the flotation belt and going to the pool anyway for a spot of aqua jogging.

  • Welcome to the new nutters

Hope all the sick and injured recover soon

Have had a couple of pretty slack weeks training-wise, largely due to this bloody weather (and it's still snowing here).  I was getting really pissed off, but had a brilliant weekend catching up with family I haven't seen for far too long, and that gave me a real boost.

So today I have managed 40 mins of Chrissie on t' turbo followed by a run to the village and back, 3.07 miles / 29:38.  Running off the bike is so much better than running from cold.

  • ironwolf - could you put a surgical glove over your hand and tape it down with some duct tape or something if you are determined to get into water?

feeling shattered today so having a rest day and an early night

  • I had a rest day too

I shall swim & gym possibly tomorrow .. well I shall certainly swim and then I shall be packing for Devon

  • Rest day for me too! I'm gonna attempt a century ride tommoro.... I've got my bike ready just need too actually do it!
  • I've also decided to have a rest day, feeling really really tired, i think it may be that i know i need to work on the bike so i've been trying to double up on the fink weekday bikes, i've also been doing a bit more running than required with my sessions being an hour and a half instead of an hour. Writing this does make me want to get on the bike and HTFU but i think rest is in order.
  • Evening all

IW ... What you done to your hand?

A better day than I expected training wise considering the shit day I've had at work

    - Tempo run ... Just short of 5 miles

    - 2hrs 15min spin ... Including RPM and the 'best punk album ever' to get me going

    - 30mins core
  • Had a DK-style rest day yesterday - 2.2km in the pool.

11.5km run with 7km tempo section tonight. Track Wednesday tomorrow! image

  • A 45 min run late afternoon, and just back from an hour's swim with the tri club.  Aching but happy.  Food.

  • My week 11 update (bit late).

  • I must be a right sado geek ... I have a trainng dashboard (in Excel) that now displays 8 different graphs of my progress image

  • Ah Will, if only the pirate monaco had a top pocket for your collection of pens

Short workout then as it's got to be a fairly short album  image
