Wow - that was quick!
Lol - Is that 22 she's done now?Or 21, I forget... I'm sure she said something on the Paris video - anyone catch it? Are you out there Rosie - best keep us straight!
Ooooh Rutland - gonna have to go have a look at that one - right time of year for me - might have to add it to my list!
Good recollection skills oscarr! Deffo team manager material!
Any thoughts on your next mission Ten? Bo - are you entering anything else this year?
Been to see podiatrist today to have my orthotics checked (mainly coz of my sore heel - wanted to see if they needed changing). I do need new ones (eek - big bill) and was advised not to run for 2 weeks to let the heel settle (she thought not serious problem, bruising). However, the physio I saw last week (who I have a lot of respect for and diagnosed the same issue - and is a regular IronMan participant...so 'gets' that not running is BAD) told me I could run as long as modest distance and not on consecutive days. Which advice to take?!?!
Idea of not running for 2 weeks and losing all that fitness built up for Brighton is a bit soul destroying..... But then that thing about listening to your body is probably worthwhile..!?!
Went for a 20 mile bike ride instead today with a few hills which was a bit of a blast in the gorgeous weather. Tomorrow is either a run or another bike, undecided!
As for my next race, very modest compared with everyone else - a 10K next Mon provided I take the 'run through it' route! So not likely to be a 'A' race anyway. Need another goal race I think.
Hi FH - I'm just doing the half - but we'll be there at the finish to see you guys romp home!
WW - ahhh tricky one - what does your intuition tell you? I'll bet you know deep down whether to run or not? Besides you won't lose it all over just 2 weeks - doesn't it take half the time it takes to build it to lose it? So if you did 4 months - it's take 2 months to go back to square one. If you can do short, easy runs and some biking I reckon you'd be ok and soon step up again once you're better. I can understand your frustration but would you rather take it easy for 2 weeks or drag it out for longer if you don't heal properly first time... it's a toughie and I feel for you - hope you find a sensible middle ground.
Glad to hear you guys have your eye on some races - I find 10ks really hard - 5ks aren't so bad in my world as I seem to run at 10k pace but just when it starts to get uncomfortable you finish!! hurrah I reckon you'll both fly after all that training - I'm hoping my marathon has the same effect on my cross country next season.

I hope so, I have two 5ks at the end of May - a ladies one (Normanby 5k) then a summer series event midweek - and then we have a parkrun in the diary for the following Saturday if my legs are still up for it. I'm hoping that just by running a few more of them I'll get stronger - they were few and far between up north. Part of my problem is just getting my head round the numbers - I need to convinve myself that I can run that fast before I do.
Still - intervals today - am doing my efforts faster than I've ever done them recently so hopefully that will translate to a faster time on a good day/course.
How's your taper going?
Morning Peeps...........ran four miles into work this am and doing the same home and guess what it was chucking it down again this am!!! Chose to wear my sauconys that have about three hundred miles on them, too many puddles to spoil my Kayanos.............which are blue and shiny..........picture needed me thinks to cause shoe envy for SB!!!
Promised my OH that I wont do another marathon this year due to the time involved in training but I did accidently apply for the VLM yesterday and she spotted the email I got back from them!!! Ooops, never mind I wont get in I am sure. Fancy the Lakeland trail series next year awesome races tough but views to die for. Anyone fancy Coniston 14 next March will be going back there again if circumstances permit.
mcs - I have shiny Asics 2160's which are bright pink - everyone comments on them and I am the 'lady with the pink shoes!' Love yours. So much nicer than white trainers (especially by the time I'm finished covering them in mud).
Have decided to err on side of caution and not run for a few days (not saying how long I will last but will try to stay off until no pain at all). I did a spin class this morning which just wasn't the same. Just not into that kind of 'class' exercise.
I'm feeling fat and blobby after the marathon, must be coming of that intense training and carrying on eating! So going to try and cut down, especially while I'm off running.
Hoping still to at least jog round the Watford 10k to see the Bluebells....especially as my daughter is entered in the 1k and I want to do that with her.
I am now toying with the idea of using my GFA brighton time to get into London 2013. Think me husband might killl me if I enter another marathon.... I've no HUGE desire to run London (done 3 times) but wonder if I could do it and just enjoy? One of my best running buddies is doing it so we could train together etc (tho she faster than me, looking for a 3:15 time!).
Ah well. Just to invent some exercise sessions to do whilst laid up.. Jealous of everyone running, even in rain. Prob gym again tomorrow and swimming thursday. Boring!

I am feeling sorry for myself, I seem to have developed a foot injury following VLM..have googled and think it might be peroneal tendonitis...foot swollen and very painful after trying to run today Sadly little chance to go to physio or alternative training at the moment
mcs - love those trainers !!
MWW - i really feel for you and maybe its a case of rest until it heals?
Sorry - a bit slow to catch up with the new forum.
Thanks for setting it up!I'm running in a 10k run next week (Shinfield 10k - near Reading) .1st 10k race since I ran in the 1st Manchester 10k in 2003 I think it was, looking to smash my PB - which was just under 1 hour. Given a 25min 5k time at Parkrun - looking for around 50mins (weather permitting!)Re the London marathon - by the time I got home from work yesterday the ballot closed. Can I ask what the procedure is for entering Paris next year? Also - has anyone here run the New York marathon?
Thanks in advance.
MWW - I sympathise.....
Looking further into my 'bruised heel' it turns out it can also be called 'policeman's foot' and can be difficult to get rid of if not caught early. Obviously I have been bit naughty and run on it when I shouldn't have so question now is whether I've left it too late for simple rest to work. Very hard to rest it properly as I'm on my feet a lot of the day!
Bank hol 10k is looking less likely now. Will have to satisfy myself with swimming, cycling and being cross about not running! Grrrrr
mcs - niiiiiiice shoes dude! They're beautiful... unlike any of my race photos - there are some things the world doesn't need to see! Why do photographers stand at the finish - they must know it is the most unflattering time to snap people - does anyone ever buy those photos? The best ones are always the ones taken within the first few miles I reckon.
MWW - oh no ((( ))) I'm with oscarr - rest! And if it's not feeling better in 3 days - go and see someone - GP if you can't get to a physio?
WW - try to think of it long term - you have the rest of your life to run so what's a few weeks? At least you can swim and cycle!
Anthony - sorry - can't help with either of those. Sounds exciting though - have you checked out 2:09 Event's wesite - don't they organise packages - don't know if it include race entry too? Good luck with the 10k - my moneys on you doing a 52. Let us know how you get on.
We had a foam roller delivered yesterday - how good are they! Really sore doing my ITB but feel like I have new legs today - bonus! Looks like I'll be 'rolling' in front of the tv more often!
Yesterday's intervals went well - 10 x 1 minute at 14.0 kph with walk rests in between at 6.0 kph until my pulse dropped back to 65% (1½ to 1¾ minutes). Intervals are still a bit slower than RW training pace calculator says I should do them (14.8kph) but last year I was only doing them at 12.8kph so I'm happy! Easy 10k for me today and whoop whoop it's not raining here..

Reckon New York would be a nice weekend away, go for it.........can I come please??
Not raining here today and planning to run this evening due to work issues. Bank holiday weekend coming up and going to run a biggie with my no2 daughter doing 13 she says as in training for Edi Half and hopefully son in law too so should be a good Sunday run out. Back a bit sore so taking it a little slower with the intervals this week.
(Bing Crosby style) I'm dreaming of a.....(Lenny Henry style) whopping great PIZZA ( and a load of beer) .... just wait til Sunday night - if i go under 4 hrs there will be a few tables i will go under as well by the end of the night - STOP,STOP don't get ahead of yourself - never mind, good to have somehting to look forward to ...
(need mcs ability to paste in a picture of a "whopping great pizza" - now i'm verging on taper insanity..!!!)
Not raining here! But got wet anyway, did a mile in the pool to satisfy my exercise needs for the day.
How tough is the Marathon of the North then? (Sounds tough!)
