Well I've done some research on the old t'internet, had a look around and spoken to a few people and I can say with complete assurance that we'll definetely have weather next week. Definetely
Well that was fun. Job done, tough as a tough thing and I fell over, as I have a habit of doing lately. Many thanks particularly to wib and Lou for their support through both nights, really appreciate it guys
Well done doesn't really cover it , you did an amazing job . Not sure how long it felt for you getting to Champex but it was a nail biting wait for us!! ......
Great weather for the TDS...what a race! Last 'little hill' turned out to be a real b*****d but the first 100k or so were fun. Ended just over 22 hours so pleased with that too. Probably saw some of you lot around Chamonix...same again next year?
Good job everyone. Enjoyed CCC, body coped much better than the mind, was really starting to lose it on the final climb out of Vallorcine which seemed to go on forever. Tempted to throw my name in the hat for the full route next year. Support in the villages was incredible and made it a very special event. Only gripe was the huge bottleneck over the first 20-30k - very hard to get any decent running in as it was one big conga line.
Well done to everyone who started and finished all the races....certainly was beautiful weather this year and my friends certainly were not joking when they spoke about the cheese It's certainly a big test for the body and an even bigger one for the mind but good to know it's something to look forward to for next year....I've a feeling they'll be a good group going out
I have done the UTMB now and doubt I will get in next year via the lottery.
Can you get straight into the TDS and the CCC? I would love to get over to Chamonix again next year, the atmosphere in the town was amazing and I would like to be a part of it again.
Yes, they are adding a 40k next year. Seems a bit superfluous considering the MB marathon at the end of June.
I did the TDS this year having done a few UTMB's. Mile for mile, the TDS is harder as there is comparatively more elevation and the paths are much more rugged. Overall, you'd have to say the UTMB is harder just because of the extra distance. But not by much.
67% finishers on all three races this year. Considering the perfect conditions, that's a pretty high drop out rate still.
I will be putting my name in the lottery for UTMB next year. I can have two pieces of paper in the hat this December, and I have the points sitting round gathering dust, so why wait further?
Will stick my name in for UTMB too, think the odds were about 3-1 this year and just worse than evens for CCC. Very surprised that only 67% finished CCC, conditions will never be better so is that just a case of poor prep?
No shame in using poles cragc, from what I saw at the weekend maybe 2-3% weren't using poles once you discount the elites, and I sure as hell were glad of them. In a game of spot the Brit you just look for the person without poles or wearing an OMM bag

That's a pretty bold statement GKD. I hope you are right!
GKD - you do realise that poles slip and slide in wet weather....i think you need to leave them in the chalet
Shelley I'm going to go with every little bit of help I can get!
WiB you know me, I like to put myouth where my money is.
Spare a thought for the poor spectators who turn up to cheer the runners on at night in the pouring rain!

Congratulations are in order!

Well done all.
I finished my first UTMB in 45 hours and 53 seconds! Was an amazing event and the weather was glorious.
The race really was something special, locals in villages and towns across three countries came out in droves to cheer us on even at night.
Allez, allez!
So... who's going in the hat for 2014?
More UTMB or are you going to come and do CCC?!... the real race!
Let's race

The voices in my head are telling me I should One says TDS, one says UTMB, all their squabbling is doing my 'ed in!

It's on! No poles and last one to Chamonix gets the beers in!
DE - Enter UTMB and take TDS if noadding in lottery? I did hear they were adding another race to the weekend. Not sure if that is true

Cragc...,I'm entering lottery too ... May finally get to see you ! Think we can talk our way round the route ?

* trots off to buy poles to be incognito *
No poles....
I think I want to put in for the ccc too but I will definately be sourcing some poles! If I don't get in there's other ultras in the alps
*whispers* can anyone recommend some poles???
