  • But that means contributing to the local economy Blisters which triathletes allegedly don't do. image

You missed off Rebillion at Marlow  - best brewery for miles. image

  • Blisters, glad to see you're spending your time wisely image

I was thinking of the Little Angel for the after party - I know they have a function room type thing.

  • sounds good Raf  - must macke sure I negociate the day off work image

  • As long as it's within stumbling distance of Swiss Farm (and the O/H doesn't mind too much) then I will come out for a few. image

  • Badger - its obligatory - there is no option! image

  • I'll be there

    Well chosen rafimage

  • Well up for a few on Monday, just working out logistics and where to stay/how to get home.image

Littel Angel looks well posh not sure i can scrub up to that standard especailly the day after an IM.image

  • Ah yes. Getting home.

Wifey was pulling a bit of a face about taking two cars, but unless she wants to sit on the car roof to get there and catch a train home Sunday night (ha ha) she's driving. My bike goes in the car.

  • Thanks for the welcome guys, appreciate it. I was thinking of getting some clip on tri bars and was wondering if anyone had any experience and/or suggestions of ones to buy, I was suggested these http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/deda-deda-h-bars-tribars-extensions-deda-parabolica-uno-extension-oversize/dedahbat210000000000

    any advice would be incredible

  • Blisters, I've just had exactly the same conversation with mrs B !!  (that's mrs brooko, not mrs blisters !)  I'll be up for a few beers too...I think we'll have deserved them !  Am going to have an easy week this week as have the wimbleball half this weekend.

  • Pete - if you did get some, make sure they have sufficient adjustment on them so you can get a good comfy position. The ones you mention above look OK - but its down to personal choice at the end of the day! With anything bike related, fit is the most important thing (after colour obviously image)

  • As for the location of the post party - if any one else has suggestions, please feel free to put them forward. At the end of the day, it makes little difference what we say - it has to go to the Witches for approval anyway image

  • Pete D, I've just bought and fitted bars to my Specialized Allez.

    Profile Design T3+ http://www.otest.co.uk/p/profile-design-tests/t3-reviews.html
I'd not read the report before hand, I just saw them assembled on a trade stall, they felt good and looked well made. I've been using them for a couple of weeks now, including my first 100 miler. The first ride was a bit wobbly, but you gain confidence the more you use them. They are more stable at speed. Yes, you have to keep swapping about to get to the brakes and gears, and maybe there's a bit more back ache. I had to take the rain peak off my helmet to avoid neck ache. There's a huge amount of adjustment on these bars so tweaking a bit here or there is encouraged. Make sure that ALL the bolts are very firmly tightened.

That's enough of the challenges. When I put them on, I gained an instant 2mph. That's 10%. Immediately noticeable.

Just don't pay £100 for them. I paid £30, and got a 2xu number belt thrown in.

  • cheers blisters, look great, where did you get them from?

  • Hmm. I knew you'd ask that. I got them from a stall that is set up every Saturday morning at Cotswold Lake 32. I believe that they have a triathlon shop nearby, either Cirencester or more likely Swindon. But before you think that it's a cold trail, here's the cherry: he had at least a dozen boxes of the things to get rid of. The people who organise the swimming at Lake 32 will know who it is.

  • I will chase that up, many thanks

  • I found it, they are a shop called Performance Cycles, based in Cirencester. Must have been a deal though because when I rang they were up at the rrp £100 image Got yourself a bargain there Blisters

  • I've just been a very naughty boy with my credit card on the Plantet X website and treated 'Jill' to some new wheels!! Hope they arrive for this weekend's race - always the best to race on new, un-tried kit - its the Pirate way image

  • Raf - Nice one, what did you get? Whats the race?

Did an hours run this morning and it was hard after the weekends race so left it at an hour and 7miles. Tri club swimming session tonight, may have to take that easy to.

  • Bought a set of the 60mm carbon clinchers. And I'm racing jamie at Windsor Olly on Sunday - got to show these kids how to do it!!

  • Watch our Rafi - Vets with a Zipp 404/808 combo will be right on your back wheel (well, 7 metres away to be accurate)

    See you Saturday

I'll be ahead of him - only because I start 35 minutes before him coz I'm really old!!

And Soupy - carbon clinchers are cool looking wheels that make your bike go faster because they are cool......!!

  • A bit like go faster stipes then. Or when you used to tape a bit of card to spoke as a kid to make a noise. Okay, I'll save my money then. image

  • Just had a peek at those wheels...VERY fancy !

  • Not like these then
