Soup - I did the Marlow HIM as did Cheggars, it is only a few miles down stream from Henley and I didn't notice the current at all and I'm not the strongest swimmer.
Schmunks - I can lend you a 2 man tent (not avery big, who old is your son?)
That was a much better open water swiIm this evening 4x800m laps all of them in 17-18mins with 30sec rest between each. Felt relaxed right from the start.
Schmucks - I have a three man tunnel tent - easy to put up and plenty of length for a lanky teenager. I can drop tent off on Monday when I pick kit up if you want ? Then you can practise putting up but only had three poles, colour coded so eaysy to sort out !
Raf - yes I was!! I'm a Reading girl!!! Were you with Olly? When I got out I told andy I must have done an extra lap!!! I did 1:25 - think it measured long haha!! I'm a bit pissed now!
Plans all look like they're going well for you all. Last 40+ miles bike for me in the morning.
AA - I was on the jetty with Andy, doing the timings. And yes, the lap was a little long apparently - Olly put the bottom buoy in the wrong places, so it was about 780m per lap. But if you did a 1:25, Henley should be a breeze!!
Schmunks, I think that you have just re-christened him Lanky.
Oh yes.
I currently have 2 rooms booked at Premier Inn Marlow. I will be cancelling one for definite, and probably the other as well, seeing as life the world and everything appears to be at Swiss Farm. Probably too late tonight to do the deed.
Nil training today, but yesterday I did manage to get a swim slot: 2600m open water in 1h09m. Quite pleased with that to be honest, and I wasn't knackered either. Speed, or lack of it, is a bit of an issue. I haven't got the bottle to push on at a higher pace. Maybe next year. Breathing to either side is a matter of choice now, only a few months ago I couldn't do it. Perhaps if I practiced things would improve.
More importantly, a nice hoodie arrived from Sweatshirt today. Very happy.
Raf - would love to join for the meal on the Saturday, but will probably be at my highest state of faffing / thinking etc at that time ! An extra decision about what to eat may just send me over the edge .
Ha ha ! Even with bolognaise I'd start over thinking about whether to go spaghetti, penne, or other pasta....
Seriously though...my family may well be with me so can't commit at this stage...i will however definitely pop in as am keen to see you all, wish you well and say thanks for all the support.
Had a bloody good swim this morning with a friend from my road bike club... He's faster then me but managed to just about stay on his feet 2km in 37 min which isn't too bad for me ..... Riding too my old dears house too do some gardening trying too keep the mileage down... saying that 80 miler tommoro
St - I've done more then my fair share of riding in the rain trust me! It's more fun riding when it's dry to be honest! Also I don't want to get my bike dirty that's bloody we'll sacrilage!
I've had a few crap days. Got some bug and Thursday I was a wreck. ST said something like well done for taking the day off training on Thurs - nice of him to say so but I had no choice, I could barely walk across the room. Yesterday was a little better and today I ran for 45 mins and did an hour on the bike. Still not 100% now.
Latest small problem is I have no energy. I need to do some eating to replace what I've lost / not eaten but I'm dubious about eating too much.
Anyway, it's not as bad as it sounds and it'll be fine in a fortnight. If I was going to get ill I'm glad it was this week and not next week or the one after! I think I'm done with OW (which I suspect is where I got the bug) until 8 Sept!
Sounds like we're all going good though. I guess we'll all be full on tapering this week.
....and Whiz is right about keeping the bike clean

There ya go! 2 votes of confidence so HTFU
+1 for the current not being that bad... It's hardly noticeable..... And I couldn't get on the feet of anyone last year so you will be fine!

Now that sounds like a challenge
ST - it's not his age; it's his size. He is 14 but over 6ft
Schmucks - I have a three man tunnel tent - easy to put up and plenty of length for a lanky teenager. I can drop tent off on Monday when I pick kit up if you want ? Then you can practise putting up but only had three poles, colour coded so eaysy to sort out !
lol - my memory of the Marlow river swim is of a hard slog! I haven't done a river swim since.
Schmunks - do you want some B&B in Henley? I've not cancelled yet.
Oh hang on, I am getting offers from all over the place
Can I keep all offers open until tomorrow pleasethankyou
Tent offer open as long as need it, but you'll need a pitch Not sure how easy that'll be unless you have an offer or one booked.
B&B would be my preference cost depending

Red Stripe - camping is £46 so am having to do some workings out
Schmucks - I also have a couple of camp beds, stove & kettle if that helps.
