Plod with You

Tried to do some hill work on the treadmill today. My legs gave up after three sessions (should have done 10). So did some weights instead. This was supposed to be my last plod before the half marathon on Sunday but I might plod a couple of miles tomorrow to try out my new running vest, which I am going to buy at lunchtime.

Not very happy at the moment. Nothing seesm to be going right at all. WQill give the half marathon my best shot on Sunday though!

Good luck - looks like you're going to have good weather for it, and perhaps your legs needed a rest!
  • Morning, all.

Cheer up, Floosie. We all get bad patches. Just put that new vest on and go for it on Sunday. Good luck.

A bit quiet on here this morning ... oh, of course, all the gobby ones are away on holiday!

I'm going along to the local running club tonight. They cater for plodders and I'm assured they're not too scary. Will tell all tomorrow.

Oh ... good luck to anyone with kids getting A-Level results today.
  • Morning everyone,
Was gonna do some yogalates this AM - but didn't sleep well mainly due to the B/F

Floosie Sue, I think what you do is amazing anyway, always in awe. Don't be so hard on yourself you are achieving alot.
I am sure that after your half marathon you will feel fantastic.

Jill good luck at the running club, I am sure they will be friendly.
  • Morning all.

Not sure whether I want to swim or run yet but if it gets any hotter I think the choice will be easy.
  • Afternoon!

It's a martial arts day for me so no plodding till tomorrow (and it might even be cool enough by then to plod outside!)

STILL haven't made it to Nike City for new clothing... feeling an overwhelming urge to shop for new running clothes as i've only got one set warm-wather and one set cold-weather and the washing machine is on overtime!
  • FS - forgot to mention it's your talk of new vests that got me all wistfull....

Surely you can't fail to have a good half marathon with a shiny new vest on!
  • Hmmmm....new running kit, new running kit, Oh what feelings of desire have overcome me!
Nice pair of well cushioned road shoes for a mild over pronator/neautral runner and technical T from that smart new red and grey range Asics have out, perleese!

Good luck with the half Floosie!

Im off out with the woof this afternoon and then a session on the eliptical trainer...well thats the plan
  • Thanks for all your good wishes everyone.

Shiny new vest bought (£12 reduced from £20 in M&S and it is made from lovely wicking material - shame about the bright orange piping round the arm holes!). Also bought some shorts for holibobs and some new running leggings. V.v naughty but hey, as far as shopping is concerned, running clothes are the new shoes.
  • I know what you mean Floosie. I ADORE shoe shopping. But it used to be loveley sparkly, high, impractical....(no no no the addiction is still very slightly there, I'll stop) But now if Im not lusting after my new running shoes and kit Im buying sensible shoes so as no to damage my feet for running.

O God 5 years ago Id have cringed at myself if I'd said that!
  • I still have the passion for killer stiletos but am trying very hard not to wear them too often. But they are just soooo lovely.......

But then so are my Mzuno Wave trainers (nuetral shoe for mild supinator!).
  • After my experience last weekend when my heel fell off my high heel shoes whilst in town. I should have gone off em, but I love them especially because I am pretty short.
May have to go shopping for some new ones this weekend............
  • Did you ever see that Victoria Wood show when she reckoned she'd got old when she looked at a pair of shoes and thought: 'Mmmm .. they look comfy'?

  • No I didn't however I have got some very sensible sandals that I am currently wearing. I brought them from clarks as well Ha Ha
  • FS good luck for your half on Sunday, just take it easy now til then, let us know how it goes.

3TL good luck for your Bedford Training

  • Did someone mention NEW SHOES...............

Sorry missed out yesterday as I was on a course. Am feeling a bit bad now as am wearing heels and wondering why my ankle still hurts. Promise to wear flatties all weekend! LOVE my heels!
  • So what is the knack of walking in heels over 3" then (you sound like experts!) - or the knack of walking in heels up to 3" for that point?!
  • Get drunk, somehow it helps the balance and blocks out the pain. Even if you fall over it won't hurt.

    Ha Ha Ha
  • I'll remember that one for my v.rare nights out in town - the rest of the time they're all round impractical for stumbling home along dark, potholed country lanes from the village local!!
  • Ohhhh I know this is an old thread but I just had to post this. I went shopping for shoes this weekend to replace the ones which fell apart.
Well I ended up with two pairs, couldn't decide so got both. One strappy summary (sp?) pair and some very cute (only size 3) black patent stiletoes real feet killers. Great!

Think I could have a thread dedicated to shoes..........
  • I've only just "discovered" heels having always been troubled by horribly wide feet and never being able to find any to fit until now as there are a few specialist places that do them, if I had the £££ I think I could probably spend lots on them now that I don't just have to buy "whatever I can get my feet into"!!
  • Since I started running my ankles seem stronger, no longer keep going over on my ankles walking down the street. Not that it stopped me mind. Have had a few rows with the B/F when he wouldn't give me a piggy back and we couldn't find a taxi and it's the end of the night my feet are hurting and there are no taxi's in sight.......
  • I can just imagine my other half's response if I asked him for a piggy back!! Will have to get in the habit of wearing them to train my feet (for the times when I'm not having to wear inelegant, sturdy - yet practical - boots!). I'm determined to look ladylike one of these days even if it kills me (or breaks my ankle!)!!
  • That's why I loved my old shoes, fairly elegant with a substatial heel (aids balance) I could dance all night and walk home..........
  • Maybe I need to go to some school for lessons in deportment!!
