I'm self coached mainly following the advice out of 'going long'...
That book recommends a maximum long run of 2.5 hours for recovery reasons.
Problem is I'm slow! I did 2.5 hours last night on the flat and covered only 16.63 miles which is basically 9mm pace. I only run 3 times a week so not a great deal of milage overall either.
I know cycling helps, but... I'm thinking an extra 10 miles on top of my longest run is going to hurt come the big day!
So... Do any of you run for longer than 2.5hrs in your build up training? Is it worth it or is it better to be conservative in training and tough out the extra marathon distance on the day?
