Anyone doing the Vitoria Gasteiz World Champs? Any info on course etc??

Help? Anyone have any advice for this one? Is it hot? Hilly? Both? Am mildly panicking...

  • Surrounding country can be quite hilly so you might have some climbs on the bike but Vittoria itself is pretty flat. It's a nice, small city and El Portalon restaurant in the old quarter is a cracking restaurant for post race. Weather could be quite cool early morning, getting hotter later but not like southern Spain. can go from one extreme to another quite quickly in the north of Spain.

Hope this helps and good luck!
  • Thanks, yes it did. Lovely old city - and the weather was kind. 24 degrees on the day rather than the 34 degrees two days before.

  • Glad it went well and you enjoyed it. Was it a triathlon or running? San Sebastian, not far from Vittoria, has some goid road races and is a beautiful city. Bilbao, also close, has the night marathon too.
  • It was the long distance triathlon world champs, so the weather was quite key! But it was a great race: fabulous lake for the swim, closed roads and great support on the bike and then a 4 lap run around the city. Recommended.
