No I havn't had mine yet either, I also entered throught he Active Europe site. Swansea are usually a little late sending the stuff out I think. We've got weeks yet haven't we? Well just over 2. There are a few of us meeting in the Bay View Pub after the race, you are welcome to join us, and anyone else of course. First one in gets the first round, I'll probably be last ;-)
Many thanks for the offer Caren, but I am involved in a three way match at the event between Fujitsu, IBM and DVLA and we are having a spot of corporate hospitality afterwards at Yates Wine Bar.
I've just sent off my application form for the race. It will be the first time I've run Swansea because I'm coming from West Yorkshire and I'm hoping to dip under 40 minutes! What is it like as a race?
Fast and flat, along a road for five km and then return along the cycle path. Don't look up after the turn because you can see the finish line all the way, it never gets any closer!! Wave goodbye to the Africans when you are at 3.5 and they are on 6.5+.
Warm up and toilets at the rugby ground next to the start. Parking can be tight and allow plenty of time to get there as there was a lot of congestion last year, I ended up abandoning the car with my wife driving so I could run to the start. Still managed my best time of 2002 though.
I've entered via the official form - cheque has been cashed but nothing received as yet. Very highly rated race with over 3000 runners but a shambolic (or maybe relaxed would be fairer) feel to the office when I visited a couple of weeks ago. Ran the course a couple of times whilst visiting friends, lovely views and flat - but could be vvv windy. Am looking for a sub 40 pb and if achieved will be treating myself to Verdis' 2 person special - the finest ice cream sundae known to (this) man!!
I'm still a bit concerned that because it's a fast race, my miserable PB of 70 minutes plus will mean the whole course will have closed and everyone will have gone home before I finish! Luckily Mr and Master T are doing it too, so at least they'll be waiting for me at the end!
Twinkle Don't be worried. This is the beauty of the race.... that world class riders participate in the same event as those who take 80, 90 even 100 minutes !!!! Just do your best and enjoy !!!!!
Talk ????? Huh !!!!! Got to bed last night nice and early at 12.30, woke up at 3.00 and unable to go back to sleep.
Got up at 5.00 to get ready for lake Vrynwy for an 11.00 race start.... until I got to Newtown at 9.ooam only to find that the race didn't start until one o'clock !!!
Being more than a little concerned about not having received my race number for the Swansea Bay 10K this weekend, I have spoken to the organisers for an explaination. Apparently all the online entries from Active Europe were not received by the organisers until Friday afternoon last week. They have been processing them over the weekend and are being mailed out either today or tommorrow. So they should be with us Wednesday/Thursday. If nothing has been received Thursday then the organisers should be contacted directly and arrangements made for collection of the number.
Hi. Did Cardiff race yesterday in a new PB 0f 63 minutes. Feeling rather pleased with myself, until I realised I have to do it all again on Sunday! Not sure if I can beat my new time or just enjoy the company!
Did the Cardiff 10k yesterday, did a personal best of 40.13 which I was very pleased about as I still felt tired still from the Bristol Half Marathon last sunday.
Doing Swansea 10k next Sunday which I'm told is one of the fastest 10k's in the country (as long as the wind is low)
Then the Cardiff half marathon the week after and nothing then until the Sodbury Slog on Nov 12th. Anyone else doing that? Sounds like great fun!
Wrinty, I find it hard to believe that Swansea only got the entries last Friday! I entered both Swansea and the Cardiff ½ through Active Europe on the same day. I had my Cardiff pack through the week after. Yet I still haven't got my Swansea pack. Hope they get thier act together soon!
