Didnt see it anywhere else so Happy New Year everyone may 2013 be your best year yet and look forward to the Outlaw.
Happy New Year all. (How do you say it in Welsh, Seren?)
We're doing Outlaw THIS year
Blwyddyn newydd I bawb
this year is going to be a good year.haven't been this excirted about training for a while
You're mad in the nicest possible way
Biked and turboed now over to friends for NY day drinks.
I have run, walked and turboed today, so a good training day.
Happy new year.
First post on here. Been "lurking" for a while.
Just done a 1500m TT swim as my first 2013 session toward the Outlaw!
Hi Hag..........have you done IM distance before
No. I've done loads of sprints, standard distances and three halfs over the last few years. Thought it was time to step up. As I'm getting older I seem to do better the longer the race. Also feel I'm getting more for my money by being out there hurting longer. Perverse logic I know.
So how do I become a Pirate then? Often see you guys at races and you always seem to be having a laugh.
we just get hold of some kit and have a laugh............no official joining or fees etc..just have a sense of humour..........might be worth reading
a kit order has been just done so not sure if there is anymore being done before outlaw.but if you hang around you can always borrow if you want to wear the black and yellow
It's not really a club mate just a butch of folks who muck about. If you want the nice kit there is a kit thread on here you can order stuf through and a young lady called Scmuk's will done the leg work. Just remember to get her a pint in when you meet her. link for the thread
Linky for the pirate website thing. Basically it takes all sorts.
I'll wait till the next order thread. I'll probably race in my Tri-Anglia kit or my GYCC bike kit this time round.
Anyone camping at the Outlaw?
Is there an after race party?
Will be a few people camping me for one. As for the party I will be very surplised if there arn't a few light sherries after in some form or anouther. There is a bar on site and a supermarket that do can's nearby. Would be rude not to.
last year we all went the next day to the pub which is a mile away........infact we went there every night as the bar at the holmepoint is not open that much.........loads of us are camping
Oh top tip through if you see a nice man called Carl don't camp next to him lovely bloke but he snores like a dragon on crack.
How far in advance do we need to book camping?
you just turn up nursey, unless you need an electrical hook-up which I think you need to book in advance.
I think Pirate corner will be bigger and better this year
I've just booked the days off so I can stay for the Sunday this time
Oh yeah booking time of at work might be an idea
the sunday is the race isn't it......you need to stay for the party on monday and then go home tuesday
Yes it's the Monday that I've booked so I don't have to leave before the party this time although fingers crossed my car doens't break down at the last moment this time. Colurin' and Steve Ho were nearly missing a swimmer!
* waits impatiently for reserve list to open.....*
I've not been in here much as it reminds me I need to do training ... but now it's the New Yr and all, time to get down to it.
*waves at everyone*
So what are the numbers looking like for this year, is it going to beat the amount of yellow last year!
I thought I saw about 30 at least early on and hopefully there will have been more before it sold out. It was very yellow last year , I will be there again but for the first time in the yellow and black when my kit arrives in a few days!!!!!! thanks in advance kit fairy!
Just back from a 3000m pool swim. Todays training done. As I'm feeling so virtuous and pleased with myself I think I'll reward myself with a cold beer
Im back again IP, this time sub 12.30 is on the horizon, couldnt resist the constant waves on the run course. Really pulled me through
I think the numbers were around 40 signed up as psof + a few more I know that didn't sign up as pirates
