Just spoken to a lovely lady called Linda and it should be sorted. Might not be able to get a small t-shirt for sarah through. So I best make sure I can make one just in case.

Just get a normal one, cut a wedge out either side then sew the bits back together. Job done image

image You only want me to use half a pom pom? That's a bit weird chuckles? Has living that far south effected your mind with the heat?

LOL!!!  Yeah pom-pom in one hand, beer in the other image

Isnt half a pom pom just a pom?

  • Not sure like I said it's a bit weird. I think Pea might have gone slightly mad or something? image

  • image Okay then, only one pom needed, so hold one in one hand, and a beer in the other.

Just don't do this in Australia or you might be holding something completely different image image image

  • Hello!

It would seem I'm entered in Oulaw image

  •

Bookie, just posted on the other thread, I thought you were doing the Satuday swim now I see Cake has chucked you in the deep end , so to speak welcome to the mad house. image

  • I was trying to work out what you meant! It makes sense now. And is far less reassuring than I'd hoped! image image

I've done one of the Saturday swims before, and it was fine. My last foray into OW triathlon swimming involved freakish weather, massive waves and a dose of leptospirosis. I'm cool though. It'll be grand image

  • Yay Bookie! image

Bookie.  I think the chances of you catching leptospirosis in Holme Pierpoint lake are pretty slim image.   The only thing you'll catch is perhaps a mouthful of swan poo!!

  • I experienced the swan poo last year image image

*waves to Lee the Pea* image

  • image That wasn't swam's sorry. imageimage

  • * waves back* image

    booo to swan poo image

  • Extra protein?

  • as i take in loads of water with every breathe..........hence the need to pee at least 7 times during the swim...........the news of all the swans poo isn't very welcomeimageimage

  • Swan's poo would be an excellent source of nitrites. Who needs beetroot juice?!

  • What is the point of the "Big Swim" on the Saturday?  Do many do it? Is it organised or just get in and swim.  Won't that get my wet suit wet before the next day image

  • It's organised and think it's just because they can use the lake on the saturday you do get a medal. The one the first yea was very cool but the one last year was a but pants.

  • you have to pay for the big swim as it is seperate races but there is a time on the saturday when competitors can get in and practise their last minute adjustments...........and yes there is the potential that the wetsuit will not dry in time

  • Do you think swans will eat loperamide? Im going down early and thought I could try and bung them up a bit.

  • image Hahahahahahaha!  Good plan Bin Man! image

  • Hellooo Outlawers, I've been ill!  Outrageous.  I had a Hep A jab last Friday and it took me out.  1 whole week without a swim/bike/run, still feel tired.  Anyone else felt that crap after a jab?

A whole week out though!!  Talk about tapering, lol

  • At the half I didn't notice any swan poo flavour and I drank most of the lake. It had been churned up the previous day by the national sprint races and the day before that with the nation emergency races.

So I'm hoping it stays the same for the full,  I shall be setting off right at the back if anyone wants company. Looking forwards to it now. image

  • Is anybody else just getting fed up with it all and just wants to do it and have a rest? or is it just me, or is it just as its getting to taper time

  • image I reckon it is tapir madness

Hiya - SA.  I'm feeling a bit the same mate.  had my first unshceduled 'missed training' day yesterday as was just too knackered.  Need to get my mojo back ready for a final big push this weekend before i start to taper...

  • image I have a moral question? I've been building it up last few weeks to hopefully get my biking ok enough to play. Was going to do a brick session tonight to a local fell race and then bike home but someone has just passed me ticket's to see chris Hoy. What should I do? image

OH and dodger you alright mate. image

  • Purpose of the Big Swim is to fill the lake up with everybodys piss.

Take some Fatboy Coke straight after the swim, apparently it kills the nasties, worked for me. Jesus that duckshite tasted rank......

I'd say give the ticket to Bookie so she can go an ogle Chris' thighs, and go do your brick session image

  • taking coke after a swim to kill the baddies is apparantley a myth but i still always have a dietcoike straight after any open water swim and I have never ever had  astomach problem......image
