  • Nah ..... no chance of that Nursey  (not in UK anyway)

  • Just out of interest, what is the wetsuit temp. limit?

  • Somewhere around 24C I think

  • Dont underestimate the possibility of cold/hypothermia for the full 3.8k if you are a slower swimmer .... I would go witha wetsuit and lose less time than it takes to remove it in T1

  • i am hard into taper and have done sod all for 3 days........i will trya nd do OW swimming tomorrow..should also do the local aquathon to practice getting the wetsuit off in a rush......buit as itsw only 800m probably not worth it

  • Don't the majority of iron distance races, well the ones I did, have people too help you get out of your wetsuit? I know this doesn't apply at other distances

  • Wetsuit strippers are at Outlawimage

  • Are you volunteering ?? !

  • To old and frailimage

  • They were there last year Melds? Its not my imagination?image

  • hi there Seren sorry for the late responce!!!
hope your training gone well so far..

As usual struggling to taper this week due to training with others to help them with their training for IMUK..

  • Have you managed to improve your swimming over the winter Steve,,,,,,,crack that and your times will be amazing image

  • emmm...image swimming is still rather slow, but feel fresher after finishing...

been hit with injuries and norovirus in feb this year has really disrupted training for several months.. so i'm not as strong on the bike as before, but runnning got better tho.

doing IMUK the following month so have to go slightly easy..

  • Pulled into petrol station this morning, getting out of the car patch of split diesel slipped fell back into car, after a trip to A&E I have strained lats and cut in my back and a swollen knee

The Doctor has given me a 50 50 chance of making the start line image

  • sorry to hear that SA!!!
hopefully you'll be recovered by next weekend..

  • Crossing everything for you, SA - you're a toughie ... I have faith in you image

  • image that's pants SA hope you recover in time!! Think of it as a universe enforced taper!

You will have folks helping if your stuck, some will even have sissor's after some fool got stuck in the first year (i've checked image). best advice is unzip your wet suit as soon as your out of the water through and strip to the waist. If you get stuff at all everyone else will be looking out for you or videoing it for U-tube.

  • SA really sorry to hear that, it's the sort of story that we all scare ourselves with when we get this close and it actually happened. Argghhh , hope you mend quickly.

The zip undo I can manage but from there on it's a bear vs wetsuit wrestling match which I usually loose. I'm also prone to staggering around like drunk when I come out the water so YouTube here I come, famous at last image

My furthest swim done last night 3600m so nearly there yet so far, got 2 more goes to crack it. Mind was not in a good place for the first 1800 so glad I managed as much as I did and I could have kept going just ran out of time.

I'm failing miserably to hit the 10hrs training Fink requires this week, I'm just so very tired.

But Pip the bike is now repaired and improved to super Pip so that's good.

  • really feel for you SA,. hope you recover. fingers and everything crossed.

  • Best wishes for a speedy recovery SA.

Ali - if you've hit the ten hours for most of the last 30 weeks don't worry about it now. No training you do is going to make a difference in the last two weeks fitness wise so better to take extra rest if you feel you need it.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Jeez SA, that's just shite.

*puts on nurse voice* "Rest, rest and more rest.  And the drugs do work, so take lots"

    ((((((((SA))))))))

  • SA........cwtches form wlaes and positive vibes

  • wtf is that seren ? welsh?

    ;)
