Asics GT 2160 club

Guys

My 2160 are coming up for replacement, I read mix reviews on the successor model 2170, if you have upgraded to 2170 then I would be grateful if you could share your experience or even if you decided to ditch 2160 and gone for something else?

BTW i use 2E (wide) version.

cheers

Having finally kicked my Asics habit due to their spiralling prices, I got some NB965s and some Adidas Supernova Sequence 4s instead, and both are definitely comparable to the 2150s/2160s.

I'm getting a bit fed up with the price of Asics spiralling out of control as well and also NB is also a UK firm so might change.

Asics sizing is normally tight; i.e. I'm a 10.5 in Asics and a 10 in everything else. If I went to NB would it be a size 10?

I'm a size 8 in both. The NBs felt marginally bigger but not as much as half a size, though that could be something to do with my fat feet!

    All,

I have ran in the 21xx's for years and upgraded to the 2170s about 6 months ago. I don't use mine to race in (too heavy), but they are my workhorse shoe for almost all my training

I think they are just as good as the 2160s, and they've seen me through 6 months of consistent training with no real issues.

This review turned me right off the 2170.

I have 2170 instead of 2160 went up a size decided

My 2160s were very slightly to tight still use both very happy with them paid 69 I think for the 2170s I am sticking with them and plan to do a marathon in them

    In October.

I picked up a pair of 2170 from Decathlon for £50 and I'm happy with them. I wouldn't pay ~£70 for them though, prefer to keep an eye out for offers or get discounted previous season's models.

Thanks guys for your response, what I see here does not contradict with what I gleaned from the web, mixed reviews!

I need a replacement as my current pairs are on their last leg, I have been injury prone so I would not want to take any risk! It seems that even natural progression (2170) does not guarantee that I would fall in love with them!

I guess best course of action would be to visit specialist sports/shoe shop to try a few on before deciding, I would not mind getting my gait analysed to ensure I still need mild pronation support, does anyone know a specialist shoes/sports shop in Kingston Upon Thames area?

    Cheers

    What did you get MandM?

I have procrastinated for some 250 miles now, and struggling to find 2160s.

In the end i went for the 2170 as it was almost impossible to get 2160 in 2E. I have not used them yet so not sure how good is my investment but will do soon.

Let me know if you got lucky with 2160.

    cheers
