  • So excited waiting for the real fun to begin.
  • I wonder how much the GB squad are worth, cant even beat Senegel, PATHETIC.

Lets hope some of our real olympians can show these over paid prima donnas what real commitment and talent is.

    Come on Team GB

  • Very excited here too!
    Thank god for TiVO!!
Thanks to our lovely Holly, Garr and I are coming to see the road cycling this weekend!! imageimageimage

  • If you haven't seen this yet ... good old Boris.

  • Can i check, when you say nio spoilers, when can we talk about the days events....i reckon unless you live in a hole, it is going to be really hard to avoid the results of the day esp if GB win a medal.

  • I'm soooooooo giddy!!!

I will probably be own my own on the sofa tonight watching the Opening Ceremony - any ideas to jazz up a party for one?!

8loody good point FF I guess no spoilers contradicts my intention for the thread to get Olympic chatter going.

Spoilers are welcome, if you dont want to know avoid this thread image

Well I meant the football squad vs the other ATHLETES, I dont agree that Football should be in the Olympics.

  • I'm getting excited too although I'm not sure how party'ish my OH will be this evening....I shall crack open a bottle of something and settle into the duration

Only got 1 lot of tickets image 2nd part of modern pentathlon so the run / shoot bit but may try and get up to the tuesday tri for a freebee spot if possible image

Other than that work gets in the way...........unless of course I become a millionaire tonight image

  • Big Ben bonging in the Olympics this morning:

  • Bounce, bounce, bounce image

  •

At Tower Bridge, Mayor of London Boris Johnson tells the BBC: "The Geiger counter of Olympomania is creeping towards the red zone now. It's an extraordinary thing to watch the way the torch seems to have this benign contagion in people."

    Go Boris image

  • I quite like Boris image

  • He is entertaining.  You never know quite what is going to come out of his mouth next

  • Will Steve Redgrave have a slick move from the BBC room to the cauldron or is it someone else?
  • Bloody hell!  Got to admit I've never watched an opening ceremony before, but is it normally this spectacular?

  • Watching it on my 'puter!

    Its bloody

    Bonkers!

Its like someone asked a group of 8 year olds to describe English history and they all went

    "ummm...er....well once upon a time...."

I want some bloody unicorns and a dragon and a lion and and more bloody drums!

I reckon we should steal the 'lympics when noone is looking and have it here every 4 years.

We always know how to throw a paaaarrrtyyyy!

  • SEF, you forgot to ask for the Queen to parachite in from a helicopter !!

(just suprised we didn't have Phillip taking potshots at her with his 12 bore!!)

  • Amazing spectacle! Best opening ceremony ever - but why are all the announcements in French first???

    Danny Boyle - a genius!

  • Its in French cos all the 8 year olds are learning French and are now just pressing buttons cos they have found out where Danny put the bottles of posh cider and are a little sqiffy!

  • You mean the"Cidre"? Now I understand!

  • Now it's Mr Bean!!!!!

  • Eric Morcambe would be proud!

  • Now all the kids have all dropped an E and its going to get messy, matey!

  • Did anyone else spot Kes??

  • I went for a run missed the beginning and havent stretched or showered as I am afraid I might miss something really mad!

    Which is saying something..image

  • You should've set the recorder Stephen.

I'm gagging for a wee (just opened the second bottle of wine - Engish of course) but don't want to miss anything. Can anyone spare a peg?

  • Its when I see  those athletes from those countries with barely a handful of athletes but all of them good enough to be there. Thats when I get a bit tearful, and want to say to all those naysayers who cant see the point of the Olympics.

    Thats the point!

In a dreadfully unfair world this is a little bit of fair
